In the third episode of 'Kanjers Van Goud', Dutch international top model Doutzen Kroes goes to Thailand to draw attention to the global HIV and AIDS problem.
As an ambassador for dance4life, she is committed to reducing the spread of HIV and AIDS. Her experiences can be seen on Sunday 25 November at RTL 4.
Information about sex, HIV and AIDS
The 27-year-old fashion model has been an ambassador for dance2009life since August 4 and has visited various foreign projects for this purpose. This time she is in Bangkok, Thailand where dance4life works thanks to the Postcode Lottery and young people is the right one information about sex, HIV and AIDS and teaches them how to protect themselves.
Doutzen Kroes: “Everyone knows Thailand from the sex industry. Fortunately, the Thai government spends a lot of time and attention on educating people in the industry. But young people are completely ignored, because they assume that they have not yet had sex. It has therefore surprised me how little young people in Thailand know about the risks of unsafe sex, HIV and AIDS. dance4life changes this by educating young people in schools using music, dance and stories from peers.”
Young people in Thailand
Worldwide, approximately 5 million young people live with HIV and every day more than 7.000 HIV infections are added, of which 3000 in young people. Research by UNAIDS shows that only 34% of all young people have the necessary information about HIV and AIDS. With the support of the Postcode Lottery, dance4life can provide information to young people in countries such as Thailand.
Broadcast: RTL 4, Sunday 25 November between 22.40 pm and 23.10 pm.

I saw the report and it was indeed beautiful. Well worth a look. Doutzen was visibly impressed by Thailand and its problems with teenage pregnancy.
However, there are a few caveats. For example, after the information, Doutzen asked young people whether they would use a condom for sex from now on. You can already guess the answer. Everyone says yes. Those who understand a little more about Thai culture also know that a Thai usually gives the answer you want to hear. So they say 'yes' but act 'no'. But that's no reason not to try it anyway.
It also appears that Thai young people know very little about 'safe sex', so the information they receive via dance4live is always included.
If dance4live's work is to be really effective, they must also go to the countryside, such as Isaan. But maybe that will come?
Well, in Isaan, many young girls are pregnant, in my wife's family, three nieces, one of 15 and two of 16, are pregnant.
But when I wanted to say something about that to the girls and their boys, about safe sex, I heard stupidly, ( no money to buy them at the time ).
And then I heard from another nephew that he wanted something with a girl next door, asked if he had condoms, and when he answered no, he could, but with a plastic bag around it.
So try to teach them how to carry water to the sea.
We had also advised my wife's sister (now just 18 years old) two years ago
not to get pregnant, but afterwards we talked to a deaf mute,
the baby is now just one year old, and the sister has just been left by her thai boyfriend, so she left for pattaya to find work !!
this is a daily scene that happens here in the isaan, if I sometimes look in Bic-C
Supermarket then there are more pregnant customers walking around, than staff...
