Last Chance: Come to Thailandblog's New Year's Reception
130.000 baht: isn't that a nice round amount to hand over to Operation Smile Thailand? That amount must come from the sale of the book The Best of Thailand Blog and donations come.
That is why we are holding a New Year's reception on January 12: for fun, for mutual contacts, but above all to get the target amount around. That's why we ask everyone who comes to donate 250 baht. But of course you can also give more. The target amount (or more) will be handed over to Operation Smile Thailand in April 2014.
The owner of the Moonshine pub, where it's all about to happen, has offered to provide free snacks. But of course she has to know how many people she can count on, otherwise people will find the dog in the pot. As an aside: Some Thais wouldn't object to that, because they love dog meat.
So dear people, if you plan to come, please let us know by January 9th via Gerrie Agterhuis's email address: [email protected].
Program
- During the afternoon, Gerrie Agterhuis, who took the initiative for the reception, will hold a short conference in which he will discuss the difference between the Dutch and Belgians. Knowing Gerrie, it won't be a super serious story.
- A representative of Operation Smile comes to tell us what the foundation does: operate cleft lips and open palates on children free of charge.
- Dick van der Lugt provides an overview of the current financial situation.
- And Johan Lubbers and (Thai) girlfriend Nisarat are going to take care of a balloon-shaped zoo. Especially for the children who come with their parents to the reception, but adults can of course also watch how animals and flowers are put together from balloons. A bouquet of five flowers costs 100 baht, an amount that goes entirely to charity. The bouquets can already be ordered via Gerrie's gmail address.
