The dark rosefinch (Procarduelis nipalensis; synonym: Carpodacus nipalensis) or in English: the dark breasted Rosefinch, is a passerine bird in the family Fringillidae (finches).

The bird is found in Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam. The natural habitats are subtropical or tropical forests and upland scrub.

This species has 2 subspecies:

  • P.n. kangrae: occurs in the western Himalayas.
  • P.n. nipalensis: from the central and eastern Himalayas to central China, northeastern Myanmar and northwestern Vietnam.

Unfortunately I couldn't find much information about it, but maybe there are bird watchers among the readers who have more information about this beautiful bird.
