In Thailand, fourteen orangutans have had their final medical checks before being allowed back into the wild. Soon they will be transferred to their original habitat in Indonesia.

The rare animals have been rescued from Phuket's entertainment industry and smugglers in recent years. Orangutans are on the red list of endangered species. Only 55.000 live in the wild worldwide, mainly on the Indonesian island of Kalimantan.

In September, the fourteen animals will return to Indonesian nature.
