It is nice to see the Dutch flower parade on Thai television and to read it in the Pattaya Mail. This is not entirely coincidental because this year Nong Nooch was chosen to lead the parade that started in Noordwijk and ended in the city of Haarlem over a distance of more than 40 kilometers. Together with the parade, the spectators enjoyed a beautiful light show.

Noordwijk, Netherlands – Thailand's Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden participated in the Bloemencorso Bollenstreek Flowers & Fashion weekend event, the world's largest flower parade, held annually in the Netherlands.

NongNooch decorated its floats with the theme of "Thai culture and religion", with the Royal Barge Suphannahong, elephants and the national flag. All decorations and displays are made of colorful striking flowers such as daffodils and dararat.

The event dates just after World War II. In those early days, the procession consisted of a couple with flower garlands, accompanied by decorated trucks and handcarts with flowers.

Yes, my sister already wrote to me that Thailand and China were participating this year. Nice!
Only: The daffodil (dararat in Thai – dara for “star” and rat for “jewel”) was one of the late King's favorite flowers. And: Narcissus is a genus of mainly spring perennial plants of the Amaryllidaceae (amaryllis) family. Various common names including daffodil, daffadowndilly, narcissus, and jonquil are used to describe all or some members of the genus.
    So Daradat is a daffodil.

The Keukenhof was also in the picture. My wife loved it, because in 2006 she walked around there herself. I saw it on Thai TV at 23.00pm.
