Protected pangolins intercepted in Thailand (video)
Thai Customs seized 122 pangolins this morning. Some of the animals belong to the endangered species in which trade is prohibited.
Customs seized the animals in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, about 300 kilometers southwest of Bangkok.
Family of mammals
According to customs, these are animals in which most illegal trade takes place. An animal can fetch almost five hundred euros in Vietnam or China. Pangolin meat is a delicacy in those countries. A medicinal effect is attributed to the scales.
The pangolins or pangolins are a family of mammals and are found in Africa and South Asia.
