Singha will be running again in 3 to 4 months

Singha Corporation, known for beer and drinking water, expects its flood-affected factories to be fully operational again in three to four months.

Two beverage factories in Nakhon Pathom and Pathum Thani have had to cease production, and three supply companies at Rojana Industrial Park (Ayutthaya), owned by Singha: Ayutthaya Glass, which makes glass bottles; Vissie Pak, producer of PET bottles, and the label maker XYP B.

Singha has no problems with the production of drinking water; the four factories are located in Sing Buri, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai and Surat Thani; they are still running. The current empty store shelves on which bottles of drinking water should be placed are the result of logistical problems, as customers are unable to collect their orders from the distribution centres.

A site at Asok-Phetchaburi intersection (Bangkok), which is owned by Singha, is being set up as a first aid post and relief center. Doctors, psychologists and other specialists are stationed there. Carpenters offer voluntary services in repairing homes and machinery. Other support services are also available.

If planes full of tourists can land, you can assume that it may be possible that food and water can also be arranged. Are we not worrying too much? The Thai is resourceful in all areas.

Frank, I'm worried! You think the Thai are resourceful, but can you explain why there is NO drinking water available here in Pattaya, Jomtien and even in Satahip? Haven't for over a week! Even the beer is available to a lesser extent. The shops are empty, but the restaurants apparently have no problems. How resourceful!

No drinking water, but beer? I don't really see the problem then...

I am now reassured. With that 20 kg of luggage, taking it from NL is also not an option.

Indeed Mark, and to now bring your own hops and yeast and then brew your own beer in your hotel room may be resourceful, but it remains a lot of hassle.

the biggest hassle will be to find clean water. So will have to stay in BKK. There is no drinking water at all in Pattaya anymore?

Transport over the flooded road is difficult Freek, but you are right,
I myself think as soon as the prices are increased by 20%, the shelves are suddenly filled again.

The problem will mainly lie with foreign companies, which want support and/or low Bath for reinvestments.

Factory halls abroad are already ready to move things and Thais have already been asked if they would like to work abroad, but I do mention inside information that I cannot check, but sounds logical to me.

ok if no one does, I'll head the ball in: I'm leaving for BKK on November 17th. Is it wise to go now that beer production has come to a standstill?

Mark, don't worry. Chang and Leo are in top gear. If they also come to a standstill, a negative travel advice will not be long in coming.
