Douwe Egberts coffee on board KLM flights
From 1 October 2018, KLM will serve sustainable coffee from Douwe Egberts on all its flights, both to European and intercontinental destinations. Tasty, high-quality coffee is important to KLM customers.
Customers will be served the new coffee on board KLM from October. Sustainability is important to KLM and therefore consciously chooses UTZ certified coffee from Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) Professional. The airline has opted for a special blend that perfectly matches the taste experience at high altitude, so that a cup of coffee tastes just as good in the air as it does on the ground. Customers can also experience the sustainable coffee in the European Crown Lounge and the intercontinental Crown Lounge.
For KLM employees in the Netherlands, the coffee will also be available at their workplace from October.

The coffee on board it doesn't matter which airline I don't like. If I want coffee, I ask for hot water and make my own coffee. There is a kettle taste to it and sometimes the tea looks like coffee so black.
Have already suggested give hot water with a bag problem solved.
Christiana, how on earth do you make your own coffee on a plane? Ordering hot water means instant coffee and is that tasty? I like to wait and see what KLM comes up with, that it will taste better than instant coffee will soon be the case. As soon as possible after 1 Oct. I report my experience.
Very old fashioned I have a cup with a filter on it. Are no longer for sale.
Before I became a flight attendant, I drank instant coffee, black, unsweetened. In the first years (82 to around 90) of my work, people in the economy got instant coffee. That was fine for me too. But the customer wanted “real” coffee. So at a certain point coffee machines also appeared in the economy. That coffee was terrible. So bitter, so strong… I then started putting sugar and milk in the coffee to make it somewhat drinkable. But it didn't taste. Tea is even worse.
The idea of bringing your own instant coffee is not that crazy. Or the three in one coffee, then you can take it with you in small bags. Just ask for a large cup (it is best to go to the galley with your coffee and have it filled there and the flight is saved…
Is a great solution these 3 in 1 sachets of instant coffee. I have carried them in my hand luggage for years and also a coffee mug. Just add the powder and ask for some hot water and you have a nice cup of coffee…. I am addicted to this kind of coffee, take whole stocks (half a suitcase full) from Thailand and Indonesia to the Netherlands

Douwe Egberts IS great coffee so will be curious.
Just hope I don't have such a strange taste in my mouth as the word they use for coffee: 'sustainable'. Seems to be fashion or something in NL, sounds interesting maybe. I'm totally sick of it.

With sustainable coffee you can make coffee several times with the same ground coffee.
Yes, I usually don't find the coffee drinkable at any company. So hope is alive. But I still think the worst thing is that if you leave from Germany or Belgium, the ticket price is a few hundred euros cheaper. Incidentally, various instant coffee is easier to digest than most coffee that you now get served at most airlines.
