Be careful with Thai Airways (readers' submission)
Be careful with Thai Airways. My booked flight, 4x business class from Bangkok to Phnom Penh, was canceled without any reason (18-11-2021). The flight was booked and paid for months in advance. Through the office in Paris, TCC, I received an answer that everything would be refunded as soon as possible.
Ticket was booked on the Thai Airways site and went through a booking agent in Madrid.
Today May 21, 2022, no money received yet, but no response or answer to my questions where the refund remains. This company has become UNRELIABLE!
Submitted by Bertus
Same with me, I owe a ticket of 2020. No answers, nothing at all. No more thai
In contrast, in the 2nd half of 2020 I had a whole series of emails in my electronic mailbox without asking for anything.
It turned out to be vouchers for every part of the flight and that for 3 people sailing so a whole mountain of vouchers, especially because domestic flights were also linked to it.
It said in the mail and on the vouchers that they were valid for one year.
Just before the validity expired again a series of e-mails, new expiration dates for the same voucher number all extended by a year, and could therefore be used until around this time to pay for bookings for flights that are now on the schedule, meanwhile it is on the site that all vouchers issued are automatically deemed extended until 31/12 this year 2022.
I have already paid for new tickets with these vouchers a few times and then receive a rest voucher back for the remaining value.
T booking with vouchers takes some effort every time, must send an email with clear flight names and voucher details to customer service. If you wait, nothing will happen.
I do it in the meantime, every time after sending an email after a day I call customer service in bangkok (a bit pricey) and then they look for my main .. make everything right on the phone and you get a reservation number, after about a week, an email will appear from the voucher department that the payment has been made.
Then about 3 or 4 days later I send another email to customer service in which I indicate day for reservation number xxxxxx that has been paid with voucher number yyyyy, of which the rest amount is the new voucher received under this email 3 days ago, they received the disc there at that I have not yet received a new e-tucket for this booking,
Usually I receive my new ticket the next day.
T has some feet in the earth, but I still have something for my money paid at the time.
Hope this helps someone, and good luck!
here just from the same flight of April 2020 booked via connections. when I contact conecctions they say we are working on it, it has been more than 2 years now. I notice that my money has started flying and I accept it but will never or to never fly with thai anymore.not reliable and bandits.
Same with me! Never again Thai Airways
If you have booked through a booking agent (intermediary), you will have to recover your money there in the first instance. With that you have done business… And otherwise TA can take up to 1.5 years until you get the money back. And that has everything to do with the fact that TA is under stricter supervision in terms of financial expenditure.
Dear Johan, Breaky (24 May 2022 at 10:01) and their “Likers”,
Read the following Thailand blog posts (again) completely:

I do not think that the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and Ms Novita Widjaja of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) are talking nonsense, and I also do not think that the EU is spending millions to write a regulation for Jan Joker that no one has to comply with hold. Do you think so?
This regulation (EU Regulation 261/2004) applies to (return) journeys of which the outward flights started in the EU. So from Europe to eg BKK (and back if that is in one booking).
It is best to pay for a (return) flight with a credit card in order to get your money back from the credit card company fairly quickly in the event of a service not being provided.
Is that also the case with international flights from Brussels with thai airways?
ja
We always flew with Thai Airways. Next month my friend is flying with Emirates. According to Connections, Thai is again on the verge of bankruptcy.
Thai Airways has been bankrupt for some time and has a debt of $ 13,4 billion.
For reasons that are not entirely clear, they still fly.
Had booked a flight with Thai via CONNECTIONS before Corona
Could choose voucher or refund. Opted for repayment with waiting period of 12 months. After those 12 months, neatly reimbursed via Connections minus the administration costs charged by them. Neatly done. That's another way to do it.
But from now on no more Thai for me either
That is not so neat: waiting 12 months and wrongly charged administration costs ...
We were able to rebook without any problems and have already done one of the two flights. I also know people who have already received their money back. So it's not white(black!
No, it's not completely white/black, but the number of positive reactions snows below the negative ones, so dark gray comes closest. Also had a problem before the Corona, very badly treated and that was the signal for me to never fly with them again….
Well,
Landed on Saturday at Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok, there are dozens of Thai Airways planes standing idle, you can also see that they have little to no maintenance, they are all very dirty and sails of engines, half fallen off or no sail at all. The aircraft are no longer operational at all and must receive at least a C-Check to be made ready to fly again. cost at least € 40.000 for an Airbus A320 to € 270.000 for an Airbus 380 and they don't have that money, let alone pay passengers back.
No, I'm not giving a penny more for Thai Airways.
But yes, it is the "national" airline and is minimally supported by the government,
Just to keep the “operations” going.
Unpleasant situation. It is therefore advisable to pay with PayPal or a credit card. If the flight is then not operated, you can request a refund on the basis of a service not provided (up to 180 days after the day of departure, some credit card companies even up to 365 days),
THAI is just a bankrupt company. Since their most lucrative routes (those to China) are not flown and, as written above, many planes are idle (which also costs them money), they burn more money per hour than kerosene. That can't go well and it certainly won't go well.
Apropos aircraft at airfield; Yes, there are many, but I was never able to discover the A380s. 2 Are in U-Tapao anyway and they are also for sale in the 'current state'. Unlikely to be sold. In Tarbes (France) many more are probably in better condition.
Flight booked and paid for June 4, 2020 bangkok brussels there and back with Agoda still have nothing
received no money no voucher. Been to the Thai airways counter in Udon you have to go to Agoda
turn to for further processing? So my son went to Brussels at the Agoda office
they promised a lot but I still haven't received anything?
Always book/buy with the airlines themselves, then claims, refunds and any vouchers will be handled earlier, possibly if necessary. The small difference in price saves a lot of hassle later on.
This happened to me with a flight from Airasia last February, Krabi to Bangkok. 2 weeks before the flight it was canceled just like that, I would get my money back, At "my cases" on their website it has been saying "in progress" for weeks, but so far nothing has been seen, A few emails have been sent without response
Regards Jan.
I never received a refund at AirAsia, but I did receive a “credit” that was valid for 1 year and later for 2 years. Booked last week for a flight from Bangkok – Buriram and so true…. I only had to pay € 5, the rest came from my credit. But otherwise you just lost your money after 2 years.
With LCCs (low cost carriers) you will in principle never get your money back. At NokAir you have to pay extra for the “Refund” option (otherwise there is 0,0 option) and then you still pay a 500 baht refund fee. Please note; tickets cost 699 or 899 baht. So you pay 50 baht extra to cancel, then 500 baht administration fee and then you get 150 baht back. Of course that makes no sense.
Legally you can reclaim your airport tax in Thailand up to 6 months AFTER the departure date (there is no point earlier). But that doesn't make a difference either. The airline may not charge any costs for this!
In the case of THAI, as a regular airline, the above does not apply. There are other reasons. No money is the main one
A book has already been written about this…..
Do not fly with Thai Airways, then you better give your money away, very unreliable has proven so many times. But there are still people with a sign over their head, how stupid can you be. Just fly with an airline that you can trust. Eg: Emirates
The same one four years ago before the corona. case with South China Airline .
Airline cancel the flight back from Thailand to the Netherlands. Never offered another flight and had to go back to the Netherlands with another airline.
Never paid a penny. No matter what I did nothing in return.
So not only Thai Airways do this.
If you have booked through a booking agent, they are responsible and you will have to knock there.
We also bought 2 tickets in 2019 for flight brussels to bangkok in April 2020 via booking agent. Received vouchers from the agent 6 months after the cancellation, these have been extended twice and last April we redeemed them without any problems.
Good luck to anyone who hasn't been helped yet.
