BANGKOK – Bangkok Airways expects to carry 4,7 million passengers this year. Demand for flights to Koh Samui is a major driver of expected profit growth in 2025. The airline is responding to the rising demand by expanding routes and investing in fleet renewal.

The annual report shows that Bangkok Airways achieved revenues of 2024 billion baht in 26,04, against expenses of 20,64 billion baht. Net profit was 3,8 billion baht. Operating profit was 5,45 billion baht. With an EBITDA margin of 28% and a debt/equity ratio of 2,53, the airline is financially robust.

According to CEO Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, the focus this year is on 48.000 flights with an average load factor of 82% and an average ticket price of 4.200 baht. The Bangkok-Samui route is the most popular, with advance bookings for March to September 2025 up 14%.

In the fourth quarter, Bangkok Airways will resume its Samui–Kuala Lumpur service. This daily flight is aimed at European travellers transferring at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The airline currently operates 19 routes, 30 of which are domestic and eight are international. International destinations include the Maldives, Singapore, Siem Reap and Chengdu. In addition, Bangkok Airways is expanding its partnerships with 70 codeshare partners and over XNUMX interline agreements worldwide.

Fleet management is also being addressed. The company is operating 25 aircraft this year and will start replacing its ATR2026-72s from 600. A total of twelve new turboprops are expected, with deliveries through 2028.

At the infrastructure level, Samui and Trat airports are being addressed. The passenger terminal at Samui will undergo renovation from the fourth quarter. At Trat Airport, the runway will be extended for use by jet aircraft.

Bangkok Airways hosts the 69th AAPA Assembly of Presidents, which will take place on November 14 and 15. More than 250 top airline executives and regulators such as ICAO and IATA will gather in Bangkok.

In terms of commercial strategy, the focus remains on international markets. Approximately 28% of ticket sales are made via the own website, the rest via travel agents, call centers and OTAs. In addition, API/NDC sales account for 32% of the external channel.

The company employs 26 General Sales Agents worldwide, with a strong focus on the US, UK, Germany and Australia. In addition, emerging markets such as Kazakhstan, India, Saudi Arabia and China are being strengthened, thanks in part to visa-free policies that encourage wanderlust.

Finally, the network of codeshare partners is being further deepened, including with Qantas, Thai Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, Etihad and EVA Air.

    That Koh Samui is the main driver of profit is not so strange since Bangkok Airways is the only airline allowed to fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui, so they can pretty much charge whatever they want. I have always wondered why no competition is allowed on this route.

      Because BA owns the airport,

    Bangkok Airways has been the world's best regional airline for eight years.

    This blog writer bases his work on publications but certainly does not follow the price trend. Not so long ago it was still at 23,50 Baht, now at 18 A[ril at 15,40 Baht. The market therefore has little confidence in a super profit with the upcoming interim dividend.

    @French
    This is because the airport on Koh Samui is owned by Bangkok Airways, as is the airport in Trat.
