A Brabander in Chiang Rai (video)
Omroep Brabant visits a number of Brabanders abroad with the camera. In this video you can see Antoon de Kroon from Berkel-Enschot who Chiang Rai started a guesthouse with his Thai wife.
Brabanders can be found all over the world. Sometimes they leave because they find it too stuffy here. Sometimes just on an adventure. Sometimes driven by love. Program makers Bart Coenders and Tanja Nabben visit them, those distant Brabanders. And look for the Feeling of There.

I have seen that program and have the impression that he has done it well and realistically and he does not have to be bored, I am immediately jealous of Antoon.
I would like to visit him in Chang-rai next winter.
We come to Thailand every year.
Our trip is then Brabant-Thailand.
Thailand-Brabant.
Hi Rene,
Glad you liked the program, And the HomestayChiangrai is happy.
If you want to come in the winter, book in time because it is busy here.
Kind regards Toony & Phaet
Of course I've seen that program and I've also experienced the recordings and I'm even on the video. They are a fantastic couple and no expense is spared to make the guests feel comfortable. Many guests have been coming to their "homestay chiang Rai" for years now.
Nice clean rooms, excellent breakfast and they make serious work of their homestay. The combination of that Brabant feeling and the Thai friendliness give the guests a true holiday feeling.
We'll be back next spring!

We have seen this program and think it's great what Toon is doing there together with his Thai wife in Thailand.
We have been to Thailand many times and hope to come again next winter and later take the big step to continue living there.
But a visit to the guesthouse of Toon and his wife would of course be interesting.
Now every year the trip Brabant-Thailand
Thailand-Brabant.
Coincidentally I stayed with Toony and Phaet when filmmaker Bart Coenders was there for this program, in March of this year. It was interesting to see him at work and there was also a lot of laughter. Bart's working method also ensures that there is no acting, but that the people who form the subject are simply themselves.
They are more than fine with their Homestay there – at the end of this week I will be leaving again for a stay with them, now for the fifth time since November 2014. The mountain bike is ready again!
Nice broadcast. Think this tukker from Mae Rim, during a next PCX tour, should visit this Brabander in Chiang Rai! Great place to spend the night!!
The man has a good life.
However, I was a bit lost on the purpose of his 'food dropping' in that mountain village. Wouldn't those people be happier with a few bags of rice to cook for themselves? Happier than with bowls of half-lukewarm fried rice that you only have 1 meal?
Knowing the Thai bees who bake Styrofoam will undoubtedly swing there and form another attack on the environment.
Toontje undoubtedly does it with the best of intentions, but I don't think it has been given much thought.
I think that is an initiative of his Thai wife. He wanted to cook for the people in that mountain village. A good deed that makes her feel good. Giving some bags of rice is a lot less personal and easier. So that will count less heavily for her karma. She knew how to express the "why" herself in the video beautifully.
Maybe Antoon will collect the trays again. You never know.
Leon, I was there – your explanation is correct.
Dear Cornelius,
Can you give me the name/address and possibly the website of this guesthouse if it's not too much trouble? Thanks in advance, Ben
Dear Rob,
This was just one of the visits to this village where we regularly come.
My wife likes to cook for them much more, but we also do other good things such as the local football team, which is also sponsored by us.
Already been 3 times and if you go to Chaingrai definitely recommended, especially if you like cycling trips
Dear people, if you want to visit Chiang Rai and the surrounding area, you are very welcome with us.
I don't know if I can put our address details here?
