Last year, as registered Belgians living in Thailand, we received an email from the Belgian embassy in Bangkok that the Belgian embassy would come to Hua Hin with their mobile kit in January 2023. The planned date was January 27. Here the biometric data needed for the renewal of an international passport could be taken.

Interested parties could register in advance and would receive the correct time and place of appointment by email at least two days before the date. 14 days before date, Lung addie already got the appointment: 27/1 at 09.45 am at the Hilton Hotel in Hua Hin.

Lung Addie arrived on time in plenty of time. Since the previous appointment was not present in time, I could already take a seat at 09.30 am and there was also more time for a chat with the embassy official.

My passport was requested and the necessary data was read from it and entered into the embassy database. Fingerprints, right and left index fingers, and a digital photo were taken and I had to place my signature in the window provided. All of this was a 10 minute job at the most. The mobile kit was also in direct contact with the embassy in Bangkok, where it was already checked for possible errors.

During the conversation, with the very friendly female officer, it turned out that Thailandblog is followed by the Belgian embassy. She even knew the names of RonnyLatya and Lung addie: file Immigration and Deregistration for Belgians. She thought this was a very commendable contribution by those people. After this I identified myself as Lung addie…. Amazement could be read….

Very good experience with the operation of the Belgian embassy, it was really perfect, nothing to criticize at all. Now I can apply for a new passport online without having to go to Bangkok and don't even have to provide a passport photo as they already have the digital photo.
