NOS Inauguration of King Willem-Alexander, live on BVN!
In January, Queen Beatrix announced that she would abdicate the throne and that her eldest son, the Prince of Orange, would succeed her. The NOS will report live on April 30 from 09.00:1 Dutch time via Nederland XNUMX and worldwide via BVN.
NOS provides an almost fourteen-hour program from Dam Square in Amsterdam. This marathon broadcast focuses on the ceremonies surrounding the succession of the throne and the festivities surrounding it. During the day, there is also regular switching with other places in the Netherlands. NOS reporters watch how the change of throne is celebrated there. This 'road show' literally runs through the entire country, from North Groningen to South Limburg.
At half past seven, just before the departure of their canal cruise in Amsterdam, the new royal couple will be serenaded via a live video connection from Ahoy in Rotterdam. The day will be concluded with successively the royal cruise on the IJ and the party on the Museumplein with performances by various Dutch top artists. The central presentation in Amsterdam is in the hands of Astrid Kersseboom and Rob Trip.
BVN will turn off the delay in the signal on April 30, so that the coronation can be followed live worldwide.
The program for that day is as follows, please note, below are the Dutch times:
- 10.00-10.30: Abdication of Queen Beatrix in the Moses Hall of the Royal Palace Amsterdam under the watchful eye of the presidents of the Senate and House of Representatives, the Council of Ministers and members of the royal family. The Queen signs the Act of Abdication. Willem-Alexander is formally king at the time of signing.
- 10.30-10.50: The balcony scene with King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix. Beatrix and Willem-Alexander give a short speech. Then the three princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane are also allowed on the balcony.
- 13.30 pm: Opening of the United Assembly of the States General, preceded by the entry of members of the States General and Parliament of the countries Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, the Kingdom Council of Ministers, the Council of State of the Kingdom and the governors and prime ministers of Aruba, Curaçao and St Martin.
- 13.50 pm: Royal family leaves for De Nieuwe Kerk.
- 14.00 pm: Departure of the king and the main cortège to De Nieuwe Kerk.
- 14.00-15.30 pm: Swearing in and inauguration of King Willem-Alexander in De Nieuwe Kerk. The newly crowned monarch gives a speech and takes the oath.
- 15.30 pm: Departure of the King and his entourage to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam.
- 16.30:18.00-XNUMX:XNUMX pm: Reception for authorities and members of the States General at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
- 19.30 pm: The King's Song is performed in the presence of the King and Queen prior to the cruise. This takes place at the EYE Filmmuseum via a video connection with Ahoy Rotterdam.
- 19.45-21.00: The King and Queen take a boat trip on the IJ with their daughters. They sail from EYE Film Institute past the Oeverpark and the head of Java Island. They will be offered a festive program at various locations along the sailing route, including a mini-sail. The program will be concluded in front of the Muziekgebouw with a salute from ships.
- 21.00-23.00: An 'Oranjeplein' has been set up on the Museumplein, where a large 'King's Ball' with performances by various artists takes place in the evening. The broadcast will conclude with a summary of the entire day.
