Many Dutch people in Thailand were surprised by a statement from the Dutch Embassy about the procedure surrounding the legalized income statement. This recently announced renewed procedure for applying for a legalized income statement has raised many questions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok, is now looking for a constructive solution that is both legally correct and acceptable to the Thai authorities, while of course not losing sight of the interests of the Dutch community. Because this requires more time, the new procedure change will not take effect before 1 April.

Dutch people in Jomtien and Pattaya, who use the Austrian Consulate for the legalization of the income statement, must turn to the new accommodation from 1 March.

From 1 March, the Austrian Consulate and the German Consulate will be located in the Thai Garden Resort on Pattaya Nua (diagonally opposite where Terminal 21 is being built).

The office is on the right as you enter the driveway, says Rene Pisters, manager of the Thai Garden Resort.

Indeed, a much better and more representative location than in the Arab quarter, where it is still located today.
Moreover, it's around the corner from me, you can walk there!

Yes, in the old parking lot.

And Gringo, can you also have dinner there one evening 🙂 🙂

      Keeper, huh!

But my dear psm, Thailandblog has already posted several stories about Thai Garden Resort, one from Dick Koger and one from myself:

On punishment from ...... Gringo, that was a "wink", you shouldn't feel so targeted, not at all my intention 🙂

And, perhaps a perseverant, but a "persistence" that has a different meaning in our Belgian country 🙂

from this post I draw the conclusion that all Dutch citizens can still have their income statement legalized at the Dutch embassy without proof of income until 31 March 2017. On November 22, 2016, the Thai government approved a new immigration law that means that people with the nationality of a number of countries, including the Netherlands, who are at least 50 years old can apply for a 5-year visa, which can be extended to 10 years. one of the conditions to get this visa is a monthly income of at least 100000 thb net. So if a Dutch person fills in an amount of at least 100000 thb per month net on the income statement, this will be legalized without proof and the statement will be valid for 6 months. let's hope that the immigration service in thailand also makes the adopted law of the government possible in practice before September 30, 2017. then many Dutch people would have another 5 years to think about where to go after those 5 or 10 years. they therefore have plenty of time to find a solution for their financial affairs regarding a Thai wife, girlfriend, house, tree, animal.

Not too happy with this new location, the old one was a matter of minutes for me to get to and now I'm at the mercy of the Bahtbus or motorcy mafia to get there.

can I also have my income statement legalized at the Austrian embassy, instead of traveling to the Dutch embassy?
or do I have to live in Pattaya or the surrounding area?

    • l.low size says up

You do not necessarily have to live in Pattaya or the surrounding area for a legalization of the income statement.

        l. Lowmate, thank you for your response. may I make it a little clearer?
Every year I go to Bangkok, NL embassy, and now also to foreign affairs in Bangkok.
If I can avoid that by going to the Austrian embassy in Pattaya, it will save me time and money.
        I hope I'm clearer now.

Well, why all that effort by the Embassy when a copy of the passport legalized by an official Thai notary is submitted to the Embassy. It contains everything the embassy thinks it needs, including a signature.
And digital copies of an original are equal to a paper original nowadays, so that is even easier and cheaper.
The Dutch tax authorities do not accept that either.

This can then be used in all cases and years until the expiration date.

Shall we get a little more modern?

    regards

I have been going to the consulate of Austria for several years for this kind of thing. It is assumed that the net amount of your income counts as an amount for immigration and not, as I have read on this site, the gross amount. The retired non-civil servants may receive their gross amount net, so it makes no difference to those people. An improvement indeed in terms of location, a long way from that deprived area.

Does the consulate ask for proof of your declared income?
