The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague has decided that the consular department of the Dutch embassy in Bangkok will be reopened for a number of services from 2 June.
You can contact the embassy after you have made an appointment via [email protected]. It is currently not possible to make an appointment via the online appointment system.
Travel documents (passports and laissez-passers) can be applied for by Dutch citizens who want to return to their country of residence. A laissez-passer is preferably provided, so no passport. A laissez-passer is a travel document that is valid for a single journey. In urgent cases, a travel document can also be issued to Dutch nationals living in Thailand.
Schengen visa (territorially limited to the Netherlands) can be applied for by:
- Family members of Dutch nationals – regardless of whether they live in the Netherlands or not – or of EU citizens residing in the Netherlands who wish to travel to the Netherlands.
- Persons who have a convincing and compelling reason to visit their immediate family in the Netherlands, e.g. due to attending childbirth, serious/terminal illness or death).
- Persons with special occupations, such as transportation workers, diplomats, and military personnel.
Visa applications can be submitted to the consular section of the embassy. The external service provider VFS will remain closed for the time being.
MVV can be issued to:
- Persons who already have an MVV, but who were unable to travel within the period of validity of the MVV due to COVID-19. The period of validity of the MVV may not have expired for more than 90 days.
- People whose appointment was canceled due to COVID-19. This does not apply to asylum seekers after asylum seekers.
- Family members of persons who have Dutch nationality: only after a request from the IND to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in urgent and necessary cases.
Civic integration exam (incl. naturalization test) can be taken, with the candidates previously canceled due to COVID-19 being rescheduled first.
Legalizations and consular declarations. Only the visa support letter for extending the so-called pensionado visa is provided (application can only be made by post). Unfortunately, all other consular certificates and legalizations are not yet issued.
Precautions COVID-19. You are requested not to come to the embassy if you have a fever or other flu-like symptoms. Your temperature will be taken on arrival and if it is 37,5 degrees Celsius or higher you will not be allowed entry and you will be asked to reschedule. The public space of the embassy has been adapted and there are options to disinfect your hands. You must wear a mouth mask during the entire visit.
