Vijit Chao Phraya 2023: A beautiful spectacle of light and color
From now until New Year's Eve, the riverbanks of Bangkok's Chao Phraya will be transformed into a breathtaking panorama of light and colour. Visitors are cordially invited to participate in “Vijit Chao Phraya 2023”, an extravagant event characterized by spectacular light and sound shows, projection mapping, fireworks and cultural performances.
This month-long celebration takes place every evening from 18.00pm to 22.00pm, with a grand finale on New Year's Eve.
Main locations along the Chao Phraya
This phenomenal event takes place at six central locations along the river. Visitors can marvel at the splendor at the Rama VIII Bridge and Santichaiprakarn Park, Wat Arun (also known as the Temple of Dawn), the modern shopping and entertainment complex ICONSIAM, the Memorial Bridge (Phra Phutta Yodfa Bridge), and several art and antique galleries in River City Bangkok. In addition, there are also opportunities to admire the light and sound shows in other places close to the river.
For an optimal experience, cruise lines recommend joining one of the many sightseeing tours. These tours offer the unique opportunity to experience the stunning light shows up close as you cruise along the river.
Grand Final: Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024
The culmination of Vijit Chao Phraya 2023 will take place on December 31 with the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024. This grand celebration will be mainly centered around Wat Arun, one of Bangkok's most iconic landmarks.
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the aim of Vijit Chao Phraya is to highlight the vibrant and colorful atmosphere of the Chao Phraya River. At the same time, the event boosts business opportunities for tour boats, dinner cruises, and the riverside hospitality industry, especially during the New Year period. The event helps enrich the tourist experience in Bangkok and highlights the unique charm of the city.
Vijit Chao Phraya 2023 promises to be an unforgettable experience for locals and tourists alike. With its mesmerizing light shows, cultural performances, and the beautiful backdrop of the Chao Phraya, this event is a wonderful way to end this year and welcome a new year full of hope and wonder.

That Ram VIII bridge location is that little park (more than half concrete, but 4-5 cleaners are busy every day) are one and the same and well known to anyone who stays in the Banglamphu/Khao San area. The program has been going on since December 1 and during the weekends there is also a kind of Thai style show, completely free of charge - especially matayom students who have certainly rehearsed for many months to make it beautiful.
The show consists of special lighting effects that also paint the bridge in ever-changing colors and patterns.
As befits ASEAN, everything is especially suitable for lots of selfies and posing on the smartphone.
Indeed, there are several of those large tour boats, I suspect that you can actually see the same thing at those other bridges in 4-5 places.
The normal river service/Chao Praya express stops at 19.00pm. Show starts at 18.30:30 PM and then every 5 minutes for 6-XNUMX minutes duration.
Next week I will be in Bangkok for 5 days, where can I book such a tour?
