Today marks the conclusion of Pattaya's annual Songkran celebrations, an event known for its lively water fights and festive atmosphere. Throughout the festival, Beach Road and the Central Festival Square were particularly busy, where locals and tourists gather to take part in the festivities.
Songkran, also known as the Thai New Year, is a time of rejuvenation and celebration, with people sprinkling water on each other as a symbol of purification and washing away bad luck. Although the celebrations are the highlight of the year for many, there is also a group that appreciates the water festivities less. For them, the end of Songkran is a relief.
Despite the mixed feelings, Songkran remains a major draw in Pattaya, both boosting local economies and providing a deep cultural experience for participants from around the world. As the festival draws to a close, the streets of Pattaya slowly return to their normal routine as the city looks back on another successful celebration.

“where people sprinkle each other with water”
Unfortunately, this sprinkling has turned into frequent drinking parties where people enjoy nothing more than drenching each other with full buckets of water.
When you see how many deaths there have been this year, I am always glad that this nonsense is behind us. And no, I'm not a 'vinegar pisser', on the contrary.
