In cities such as Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya, large crowds are treated to a mix of traditional Thai and modern Western celebrations. The streets and riverbanks come alive with colorful decorations, light installations and stages where both local and international artists perform.
The atmosphere is one of communal joy and celebration, with people coming together to end the old year and welcome the new year. For the celebration of New Year's Eve 2023-2024, there are several events in Thailand:
- ICONSIAM in Bangkok: ICONSIAM organizes the “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2023”, a grand celebration along the Chao Phraya River. Highlights include:
- More than 30.000 environmentally friendly fireworks effects along 1.400 meters of riverbank.
- An Augmented Reality fireworks show, the first of its kind.
- Performances by well-known artists such as Mark Tuan of GOT7, INK WARUNTORN, Mew Suppasit, and many others.
- Photogenic locations and light installations, including a 20-meter-high Christmas tree.
- A fireworks photography competition with a prize pool of more than THB 200.000.
- Accessible transportation options such as car, skytrain and boat.
- Events in Phuket: In Phuket there are various events, including:
- Party at the 360 Bar with DJ music.
- Events at the Illuzion Club, Phuket's largest club.
- A GALA DINNER and party at Surin Beach, known for its picturesque beach and lively celebrations with barbecues, live performances, and fireworks.
- Celebrations in Chiang Mai: In Chiang Mai there are unique events such as:
- A light parade with colorful paper lanterns.
- Fireworks, live music, and parties in the streets.
- Special events along the Ping River with cozy restaurants and luxury hotels that organize special parties.
- Other events in Bangkok: Besides ICONSIAM, there are also other parties in Bangkok, such as:
- A four-hour party cruise on the Chao Phraya River with a spectacular fireworks display.
- Party on the rooftop terraces of several bars with views of the Bangkok skyline, such as Sky Bar Rooftop at Lebua, Banyan Tree, Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar, Above Eleven, and Three Sixty.
- Club parties on Khao San Road.
- A family-friendly celebration at Central World shopping center, with one of the largest fireworks displays in Thailand.
- New Year's Eve celebrations in Pattaya: Bali Hai Pier hosts main activities and events, including a stage for local and international music. There are also various other activities and games as part of the celebrations.
- Concerts at Bali Hai Pier: From December 29 to 31 there will be major concerts at Bali Hai Pier, with performances by various artists. The area around Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier is closed to traffic from evening to 2am during these days. It is advisable to take crowds and traffic congestion into account, especially if you come by car.
- Fireworks and Events in Pattaya: Pattaya is known for its fantastic fireworks shows and musical performances by artists and musicians during New Year's Eve. In addition, there is a New Year's parade and numerous bazaars with food and souvenir shops open all night long.
