Bird Thai restaurant in Amsterdam winner of The Best Thai Award

Singha Beer Benelux teamed up with Your Little Black Book to find the best Thai restaurant in the Netherlands. Yesterday, The Best Thai Award was presented to the winner Bird Thai restaurant from Amsterdam. Bird secured a place in the top 620 with 3 votes, after which it was awarded the honorary title of The Best Thai Award by the professional jury.

The top three restaurants were judged by the professional jury. The restaurants were individually judged on key elements such as the authenticity of the Thai dishes – including, of course, Pad Thai – the atmosphere and the service. Bird Thais restaurant thus achieved an excellent score (8,4).

To vote

Prior to judging, Thai restaurants could compete for a spot in the top 3 by activating the public to vote on the official website. The top three restaurants consisted of: BaiYok from Zwolle, Mekhong Thai-Lao from Delft and Bird Thais restaurant from Amsterdam. BaiYok came in second, and Thai-Lao finished in third place. In total, more than 9.000 people voted for their favorite Thai restaurant. Voters had a chance to win a trip to Thailand for two people. The winner of the trip to Thailand will be announced on December 19 via the Facebook en Instagram from Singha Beer Benelux.

Bird Thai restaurant

Bird Thai restaurant, founded in 1998 as one of the first Thai restaurants in Amsterdam, is located on the lively Zeedijk in Amsterdam. Bird Thai restaurant serves authentic Thai dishes based on the cuisine of different regions of Thailand: Chiang Mai, Isaan, Phuket and Bangkok. The typical Thai dishes in particular were very positively assessed by the jury members. “Bird Thai restaurant was really the most authentic Thai for me. Not only because of the Thai dishes, the interior also feels really Thai. It could be so in Bangkok. That is something that really appeals to me personally.” said jury member Casper Reinders.

Owner Patrick Mertens is very happy with the award: “We are all very happy together. It was really a relief for everyone; for myself but also for all the staff. It is a great token of appreciation!”.

    Never disappoints, as does Bird's Thai snack bar opposite.
