The name Koh Tao stands for turtle island. The island of only 21 square kilometers is shaped like a turtle. The less than 1.000 inhabitants are mainly engaged in tourism and fishing.

Almost everyone comes to Koh Tao to dive or snorkel. There are therefore more than 35 diving schools on Koh Tao. You can even spot the whale shark, but also other tropical fish due to the abundance of coral.

The coast consists of rocks, white beaches and blue bays. Inland you will find jungle, coconut plantations and cashew nut orchards. Go and have a look, you can enjoy a nice walk. Keep in mind that most beaches are too shallow for swimming.

There are ferry services from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and the mainland (Chumphon) to Koh Tao.
