One of the most beautiful Islands it's in Thailand Koh Chang. Located near the border with Cambodia, Koh Chang (Elephant Island) and the surrounding islands are part of a natural park.

Koh Chang is Thailand's second largest island, surrounded by small islands where only a few fishermen live.

Koh Chang is mountainous and known for several beautiful waterfalls, vibrant coral reefs, rainforests and long white sandy beaches. The prettiest beaches are on the west coast. Some beaches are White Sand Beach, Khlong Phrao Beach and Kai Beach.

In less than a decade, Koh Chang has become a major tourist destination in Thailand. Despite the increase in tourism, it is still much quieter than on islands such as Phuket or Koh Samui.

Boats run regularly from the pier at Trat to Koh Chang and surrounding islands. You can fly to Trat from Bangkok or take the bus.

Can I make a small correction? Koh Chang is not the second largest island, but the third: Phuket is the largest, Koh Samui the second.

No, Robbie, Koh Chang is indeed the second largest island after Phuket. Search mon/ar on Wiki

Nice video!! Whether it is the most beautiful island I do not dare to confirm with 100%, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. In any case, I like to come there and enjoy the sun, sea, beach, but also the beautiful nature in the interior. But I also think Koh Lanta is one of the nicer islands.

I myself made a stupid video of mainly the east side. Perhaps a nice addition, a video "a few days Koh Chang".

    A beautiful island indeed

And what kind of islands do you recommend to visit in the vicinity of Koh Chang and preferably to spend the night?

Koh Kood and Koh Mak are both very worthwhile. Also easy to book on Koh Chang, you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the island via taxi and speedboat, where you will be met on the beach by someone from the resort in question. Child can do laundry.

Been to Koh Chang last May and indeed a very beautiful island. Just a pity that no umbrellas are allowed on the beach at White Sand! At least this is what I was told by a restaurateur.

Is it true that only Bangkok airways flies from Bangkok to Trat and does anyone else know if there is a direct flight to Trat from Chiang Rai? Thanks in advance and I don't care at all about the 2nd or 3rd largest island...-:)

    • john says up

the answer is NO. A reasonably small plane arrives / departs three times a day. About 70 people maximum. Trat airport is owned by Bangkok airways, just like Samui airport. On trat only three times a day flight subarnabum to Trat and back

You can't round it by car, not even by motorbike, maybe on foot. The part that is swept away almost every year and repaired by the owner of long Beach runs to long Beach. / Tried to lap once but stranded with my motorcycle in washed-out asphalt and steep slopes.

you can't round it at all. It is, as it were, a horseshoe or a circle from which a piece has been removed. The road along the water, whether or not a little closer or further from the sea, ends on both sides and continues into forest and mountains. You may be able to climb or otherwise "take" but certainly not with transport,.! Not by bicycle or moped and not at all by motorcycle or car.

In a previous topic about Koh Chang, someone reported that Kai Bae beach was a nice place to stay, also because of the low-priced accommodations. We are going to Koh Chang for a week at the end of January, does anyone have any suggestions for accommodations?

This summer we spent 10 days on the west coast of Koh Chang. It is very different from Koh Samui, I dare not say whether it is the most beautiful island, a lot has changed in 15 years. As in many places, the beach flea has also settled here, after 2 months you could still see its traces on our legs and body. Definitely avoid the dry sandy areas and apply coconut oil well.
Koh Chang Paradise beach, beautiful location, not super busy and affordable beach house with private pool

I am currently on Koh Chang for 3 weeks.
Do regret it after 2 1/2 weeks of rain. But that's fate.
What I do miss is the beautiful beach of the past.
White Sand Beach is still a small spot of sand, the rest has disappeared by the sea. Now that the rainy season is almost over, there are now sunny days again with temperatures around 30 degrees. Don't be deterred from the above. It is a beautiful Island.
