Year extension on Non-immigrant-O visa

I am going to apply for a year extension for the very first time. Before that I went to the immigration office in Kaemphang Phet for information. Firstly to know what I have to hand in there (compared to the list I come across here on Thailand blog) and to get acquainted briefly (taste the atmosphere), because I still have time until December 27 before my period of stay ends.

  • I had copies of all pages of my passport with me since I first came here 2 years ago.
  • A copy of the ABP regarding monthly income.
  • A copy of my bank in NL where all income is deposited.
  • A bank book from the Bangkok bank with an amount of 400.000 baht.. (I want to use the combination method).
  • A copy of my girlfriend's records where I now live. Passport and tabien Job.
  • According to the official, that all looked good, but they still want two things on paper.

1e.. the letter of support from the embassy.. (I am requesting it today by mail)
2nd.. a health statement from a doctor.. (which I haven't read about anywhere yet and surprised me a bit)

I will visit the health center in the village this week and ask if there is a doctor who wants to “examine” me and issue a statement. In three weeks I will go back to the immigration office and let you know if everything went well.

I hadn't read anything about the office in Kaemphang Phet here in the blog. That's why it might be a good addition to all those different offices and working methods.

I also don't immediately remember reading anything about Immigration Kaemphang Phet and any info is always welcome.

It is wise, especially if it is your first time, to first check with your local immigration office.

The list on TB is a general list and serves more as a guideline. Making one for each office (if I ever started it) is impossible.

A visa support letter is already required if you are going to use the combination method. After all, you have to confirm the income part. Normally the visa support letter is sufficient for this and immigration will not ask for a copy of ABP regarding your monthly income. That is exactly what the visa support letter is for. The Dutch Embassy will of course ask for the necessary proof to draw up that visa support letter.

Immigration is also not interested in what is deposited into your Dutch account. If proof of deposit is requested at all, which normally won't be because you have that visa support letter, it will have to be deposits into a Thai account.

There are indeed some immigration offices that require a health certificate, although rather exceptional. But maybe I should mention it as a comment in future versions as well.

I know it is certainly the case in Koh Samui and Kanchanaburi. Although it is on their list in Kanchanaburi, I didn't have to show it last year. There you have it…

Koh Samui has already been reported. Just look here.

For your information.

Let it be clear to the reader that such a health declaration is completely separate from the health insurance that is requested with a Non-immigrant OA visa. In case any questions arise.

Success.

    IO Amnat Charoen.
I have been required to have a health clearance ( ใบรับรองแพทย์ ) for a one-year extension of residence permit for retirement with a NON-O Visa entry for a few years now.
Then visit the local hospital for a doctor's consultation of a few minutes ad ฿50.
I go late afternoon with no waiting ahead of me.
The doctor has my history of
    of 10 years.

Although the Pope will visit Thailand in the coming days, we don't have to be holier. Why give Immigration insight into deposits into your Dutch bank account? Such a condition with regard to income requirements is not set, and we do not have to make Immigration wiser than necessary? Don't give them ideas, because before you know it a new (local) guideline will be set, to the annoyance of others.

Attn. of the health certificate, this must not be older than 30 days at the time of submission to immigration, otherwise you will be sent away again for a new one or you may fill an extra envelope with money.

    Success.

I know it's no problem to get that so-called health certificate, but suppose you're too sick to look your eyes out, and everyone can see that, does that mean you won't get an extension of your visa and leave the country must?

    Hans

And thank you Ronnylatya for your fantastic work.

      Dear Hans

That's why that period of 30 or 45 before the end of your stay period gives you time to submit your application for an extension and it's best not to wait until the last day.
You can indeed get (very) sick. Just think that you had a meal the day before that you didn't really like and you better stay near a toilet with the consequences...
If it is really long-term or at the end of your stay, a doctor can always fill in a statement that you are currently unable to present yourself for medical reasons.
Not really a problem though. As I said earlier in a response, an “under consideration” stamp will probably be used and you can expect immigration to take a personal look at your situation.
