Reporter: Ferdinand PI

This morning I extended my stay period again by 1 year until 1/1/2024 at the new immigration office in Kamphaeg Phet. It is a beautiful and spacious office with a clear entrance, in contrast to the old office, which appeared chaotic due to the small space and too many desks stuck together. The people are very friendly and helpful.

Strange and funny at the same time was the comment about the copies of my stamps from my passport. For the past two years I have always taken a photo of it and printed it out so that 2 photos can be placed on 1 page. That always went well, until now. The officer behind the check-in counter thought the format was too large and they had to be copied again on the spot so that they were exactly the same size as the original, but in black and white. Everything else was fine and the papers were stamped and I had to sign everything.

Hopefully this procedure will also change in the future, such as the 90-day notification, so that we can do the submission via the website.

In the meantime I also have a guest here from NL who can stay for 45 days… which we will extend by 30 days. His plan was to make a border run via MaeSot (Burma) but the man behind the check-in desk said that the border with Burma is closed and that he can make the border run via Laos. That puts a bit of a damper on the fun, because the border of Laos is not that close to us. He will probably go back to NL and come back next winter with a Non-Imm-O visa, which he can extend for a year, just like I do and come back every winter with a re-entry.

Definitely a nice and modern office.

That old office had its charm.
Unfortunately, the old Head of Administration has retired.
Is a good acquaintance of my wife.
He now tours in his restored American.
