On Thursday, a note was signed by the Head of Immigration that makes it possible for tourists to obtain a new extension of their stay. The duration of the extension is again 60 days, costs 1900 Baht and normally proof of residence is sufficient, but may be different locally.

The previous period in which they could obtain such an extension ended on January 29. This note allows immigration officers to grant new extensions of 29 days each during the period January 30 – March 60. In theory, a stay until the end of May is then possible.

Whether this refers to all tourists or just those who have been here since the Corona measures came into force is not really clear to me. Whether it also applies to tourists who have recently entered with a “Tourist visa” or “Visa Exemption” should be checked locally.

In any case, it is not a right that anyone can invoke and it is the immigration officer who will make the decision.

I don't see it directly on the immigration website yet, but I suspect it will come.,
