Kratae, real name Nipaporn Paeng-Ouan, is a Thai singer from Lampang province in northern Thailand. This performance was a performance especially for the Thai market of Bredene, there was no European tour linked to it.

Kratae is multi-talented, she is an excellent Thai boxer, dancer and singer. You wouldn't say it because she's a frail girl but you don't want to meet her here in a dark alley. She has won several Thai boxing championships in Thailand. In recent years she has been balancing between the choices to develop a career in Thai boxing, her architecture studies and a career as a dancer.

With Kratae, vzw Sawasdee managed to attract a very well-known Thai singer with various CDs, singles, recent hits and very good video clips.

The concert started with a competition “So you think you can dance like Kratae”, it was soon clear that Vikanda Vanavatee would win. The prizes for the first 3 places were awarded after the concert by Kratae herself.

About the concert itself: Kratae had brought two dancers and two female dancers and her sister Kratai. Kratae and Kratai alternated singing songs separately and sometimes in duet. For the hit “Hidden Line” with singer Timethai, one of the dancers was called upon, who apparently could also sing very well. For her most recent hit “Flick” we had to wait until the middle of the performance to change clothes so that they wore similar clothes as in the clip: bright red with Eastern influences. The other outfits were black, black/grey metallic, white and gold. There was a special effect on stage with a big red cloth that made it look like Kratae was floating several feet above the stage. Very successful. There was also a success medley of 1 songs. At one point the entourage of Kratae donned a trilby hat and wore clothes inspired by Michael Jackson's Dangerous tour and you felt the music, here's a short Michael Jackson moment with dance moves from the King to Pop. So they had provided the necessary variety in their playlist. After the performance you could take a picture with Kratae and with the dancers.

I can't express it better than Kratae in the song ตื๊ด Tued “forget your worries and dance!”

I believe the problem of low turnout is due to:

    – The performance took place on Friday evening (if I'm not mistaken) and the Thai market on Saturday.

    – Bredene is located in the far west of the country (the coast) and we didn't feel like driving 2 days in a row from Brussels to Bredene (115km) or booking a night at the coast.

    – On top of that you have to add the ticket prices. If you come with several people, it will quickly add up.

    – I think it is mainly the young people who go to the concerts. Older people (like my wife and I 🙂 ) are less fond of that.

Hopefully those in attendance enjoyed the show.

We did go to the Thai market. The predicted showers have not been there; the weather was ideal, despite (or because of) the wind. We liked the atmosphere very much. We were satisfied and will definitely go back.

we often come to Bredene, the annual Thai market was well publicized, but I have not noticed or read anything about this performance.
Too bad for the efforts of the organization, but PR is still necessary.
