It's time again for a highly unscientific analysis of blog usage. This time I analyze the visitor figures of the daily section News from Thailand. I was curious about that, especially since I'm writing it.

Well, dear people, I must say: that is not disappointing. From 3 to 30 September, the number of visits was 24.356, which means an average of 870, and uncle Dick is very pleased with that. But of course we want to know more.

The best day was Monday September 30 with 1.315 visits, the worst day Thursday September 12 with 589 visits. Seven days yielded a score of over a thousand. I counted a Friday, Saturday and Sunday twice and a Monday once. Although usually Sunday is the busiest blogging day (are people bored?), two Sundays scored below average. But it could just be that the score of September 22 and 29 will increase.

Were there any days with an equal score in the period under review? No, all scores were different. Shame. I also looked at the numerical version of the palindrome, a word that can be read both ways, like lol. I came across 5 of them: 727, 707, 878, 616 and 999. Also nice: there were two consecutive days with a score > 1000, namely September 7 (1100) and September 8 (1189).

It would of course be interesting to find out what the explanation for a high score is. Is that the tag, the headline, the picture on the homepage, the ankeiler on the homepage (the three lines with a bullet), the weather in the Netherlands or Thailand?

A whole search, that only one of my students has to do and then I can publish the result under my own name according to good scientific practice. Well, I do mention them in an unobtrusive footnote.

Still, I was curious about the top day September 30th. The tags were: superstition, Mae Wong dam and elections. Nothing special I would say, unless spirits intervened and wanted to say: people, we really exist. No, then the ankeilers. Then I got it. Read along:

  • Crystal ball: Possible new elections after Constitutional Court ruling
  • German tourist gets 200.000 baht massage
  • Evil spirit causes dwindling penises in Northeast

They sometimes say: I rest my case. Well, I do now. You can draw the conclusion yourself.

Perhaps a column: An extremely unscientific analysis (3) appeared on September 23.

I don't care much Uncle Dick, but I really like to read the news from Thailand.
My wife then says , do you know that again .
Was in the news of Thai TV today or yesterday.
Yes heard on the Dutch news even in the Dutch language.
Do they already have that here in Thailand?
Then I say yes , the Dutch are not that stupid yet , and like to know everything .
What is already happening here in Thailand and the immediate surroundings.
Jantje likes to be up to date with the news.
But I also read a lot of other media , almost daily to keep up with what is happening in Holland and the wider world .
But I think Uncle Dick you are doing well .
    Get on .
    A compliment from Johnny.

    Greetings to all.

To include so much news in such a short column deserves my compliments. By the way, your comments on the news are often witty and always welcome. I hope you keep doing this for a long time.
