A clear brain in a trained body

The famous Mike Shopping Mall in Pattaya is due for renovation and so a number of floors are being redecorated and modernized. Take the escalator to the top floor where I normally never go. Look with amazement at the large-scale Coco Fitness Center, the Walhalla for sporty people and slimness fanatics respectively.

A multitude of different devices are set up there to bring your body up to condition. You can increase your endurance on the treadmill, expand your chest on another piece of equipment, develop muscle mass, and perhaps drop the weight by a few pounds. It's hard work and just looking at it makes me sweat. While toiling, you have a beautiful view of Beach Road and the sea from this top floor.

For 300 baht you can indulge your desires on the many different devices for a whole day. If you can't get enough of it, put 1800 baht on the table and the empire will belong to you for a whole month. For an annual subscription you put seventeen thousand baht on the table. But after that year you have also turned into a real Adonis and many a lady will admire you.

Reflection

When you step outside satisfied and tired -whether or not slimmed- you immediately enter the rich Buddhist life and you are right in the adjacent Thai Buddha Image Center surrounded by statues of exemplary monks who have dedicated their lives to Buddha. The sign with the text Good Luck (Lucky), Protection (No accident) and last but not least Good Health (No sick) smiles at you. The statues of the monks from small to life size look at you penetratingly and really they are all for sale.

If you are in Pattaya, you should take a look at the top floor to admire the craftsmanship of the makers of the statues. Wouldn't know who belongs to the target group of the business, because customers are nowhere to be found. Still, if I lived in Thailand, I would buy such a large statue of the monk with a collection box in his hands and place it at the entrance of my house.

Outsiders would come to see me as a pious, honest and honest person. No Thai can pass by the monk and the collection box in good decency and you are guaranteed to earn back the purchase in no time and what about an annual subscription at Coco Fitness. That expense is of course no problem at all and you can see that in addition to the physical aspect, the brain also starts working immediately.

You have put that on paper nicely and an encouragement to invest in your body is also to be praised. I had been there a while ago but it wasn't there yet. I am curious whether that swimming pool on the roof is still being tackled and whether it is already well advanced. It would be a pity if this was no longer in use because it is very nice to take a dip after exercise and get some fresh air before going to mother's wife.

    Hi Folks……..

Need to get this out of the way; About 7 years ago I visited the monk pictured……(He has already passed away)

    Now I'm a pretty down-to-earth person.
But after this I became a lot more cheerful and relaxed, although I only became more respectful of the Buddhist way of life... and that took quite a few years...

    Greetings John.

Pretty pricey Coco Fitness, in the Netherlands you pay something like € 21 per month at Basic Fit and then you can exercise unlimited

More than 50 euros per month is way too expensive in my opinion. In Belgium I don't even pay half. If you go with two, you will lose almost 120 euros.

Apparently the Thais forget that the average Farang now also has to keep his finger on the money. We no longer have as much more money to spend than they do.
