Hua Hin It was not for nothing that it was the favorite city of the late Thai king Bhumibol. The clean air, the elongated beaches and the wonderful climate are therefore very attractive to winter visitors and tourists.
Just 230 km southwest of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport is the beach resort of Hua Hin. By taxi you are about 2 hours and 40 minutes away, you can immediately enjoy long beaches, nice restaurants with fresh fish, a cozy night market, relaxed golf courses and lush nature in the immediate vicinity. Golf
Hua Hin is famous for its excellent golf courses and was the first place in Thailand with a golf course. Now there are many world class golf courses and all reachable within 30 minutes from the centre. So take your golf clubs with you when you go to Hua Hin.
Cicada
Do you not want the standard souvenirs, but something special? Bee Cicada you can buy something unique from local artisans. Really worth it for a fun night out.

Interesting, but some of the disadvantages of Hua Hin:
I've been there 2 x and both times a lot of jellyfish in the sea. That really pissed me off, maybe a coincidence.
Another disadvantage is the highway (literally) through the city. Very inconvenient with hotels on one side and the beach on the other.
Also little shelter on the beach (I thought), but it may not be like that everywhere in Hua Hin. Nice market with fish restaurants!
Video is nice (2015…..) and maybe an option if our grandson comes along.
perhaps Khao Takiab Beach, a little further outside the city, is an option?
this one is about 6km long and quieter..
