The letters Pattaya at Phratamnak Hill

It's always worth checking out Phratamnak Hill in Pattaya to visit. The fairly steep hill can be visited in various ways. That can easily go up steeply by car or motorcycle in the direction of the lighthouses.

At various places you can get off, go for a walk and enjoy the beautifully landscaped park with special statues. Too bad that similar images of the Pattaya Beach have disappeared. There are several possibilities for sports here and in the afternoon it can sometimes be quite busy on the beautifully landscaped jogging track or enjoy yourself in the attractive coffee restaurant. For the sporty walker or cyclist it is also an Eldorado of possibilities (“Something for everyone”).

It is interesting to study the large "Pattaya Letters" up close. The letters consist of a steel frame, which are closed with orange plates. Out of curiosity I just started measuring. The width of such a plate is 135 centimeters and the height is 125 centimeters. A total of 9,5 plates were needed in height, so just calculate how high the letters are. Large floodlights are set up at some distance, illuminating the plates. There are thousands of LED lights on the edges of the plates, which provide the changing colours. This is controlled electronically.

These letters are the figurehead of Pattaya and can be admired in many images.

I'm curious if this can also be done on foot. Is it also a bit well described how you can get here on foot. I've walked from Pattaya soi 8 to Jomtien soi Welcome before so the distance doesn't seem to be the problem. Anyone got directions??

    Kees,

It is easier to 'walk' than to cycle.
I made that attempt twice (bicycle) but I don't dare to do that anymore.

    Route description is not necessary.
From the lighthouse to the top, then you can go in all directions.

There are several hiking options. You can start at the Bali Haipier and walk towards the lighthouse.
By removing the boats, a beautiful stone staircase has emerged on the left, a bit before the lighthouse. Climb this one, keep to the left at the top.
Before the coffee house, a stone staircase leads down to the Pattaya letters.
The back of the letters can already be seen in some places. Possibly. ask the taxi drivers, who are there
    always standing nearby.

Yes, who does not know them.
I've never thought of it as much more than a "Hollywood" copycat.
And also a bit redundant. If there's one city in the world where, if you're dumped there in the middle of the night, you know where you are within two seconds, it's Pattaya.

Very easy to get to and it was always a nice walk, through the tunnel under Pratamnak to the roundabout by the sea. Only…..now really enjoy with the recent incredible explosion of stray dogs. Suddenly not fun anymore. Fortunately, the trail around Bhudda hill is still reasonably “dog free”.
