A shipyard near Pattaya
There are so many nice and unknown places in Pattaya that it is worth mentioning. Pattaya was known as a fishing town and several stories have been written on the blog where fresh fish is available in the market. Well known is the fish market on the Naklua Road.
At the harbor, nets are mended and fish dried, which are later sold on the beaches. In addition to the nets, ships also require maintenance. For example, there is a real shipyard at Naklua beach. The ships are pulled ashore by means of an old marine diesel engine on a long cable. A simple but effective "crossing point" has been created half way through, so that ships can be parked on the sides of the yard for maintenance.
They are not only fishing boats, but also ships that transport passengers. The maintenance is very diverse. The hull was usually caulked (cleaned), seams scraped out and then filled with rope/hemp. The seams were then sealed with a type of polyester. The whole was thoroughly sanded and finished with several layers of paint.
One ship was fitted with a polyester skin. Liquid polyester was applied to the hull. Later, a kind of laminate strips were attached, which were dipped in polyester again. After it had hardened, the whole was sanded and polished and lacquered. An accurate work. If this is not done properly, the old hull can rot within the polyester shell. One speaks then of the last shroud of the boat.
The superstructure of one of the passenger ships was renovated and new doors and windows installed. Some had their propellers and propeller shafts repaired. Some screws were re-polished and one replaced, which was badly damaged. Each propeller is different, depending on the type of ship. The number of propeller blades also often indicates for which ship it is intended. A strong but slow sailing ship or a fast boat.
Many and different activities observed by a number of dogs.
Where is the wharf located?
- Drive on the famous Naklua road towards the fish market.
- After passing soi 12 left and soi 13 right (sauna), park 20 meters before the traffic lights (2nd traffic lights of the Nakluaroad).
- A narrow path with concrete slabs leads to the sea (Naklua Beach) on the left. There's the yard.

In this one, do not forget about the port of BANG SARAY.
Is very accessible and nice to stand at the pier at about 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning to see ships come back. It's always nice to see the catch that has been brought in.
You can't get it fresher.
there is also a shipyard there
I've been a few times, beautiful photos, really from the old days as those people work, really worth a visit
