Jomtien, parking ban is causing trouble

In a number of places, clear parking prohibition zones appear, the well-known red and white stripes painted on the sidewalks. Most motorists and motorbike riders adhere to this. If these have not been installed, it is still necessary to check whether a parking prohibition sign has been hung.

Recently, the well-known red and white stripes have also been applied at a number of places along the Jomtien Beach road! Traffic now had a better flow, unimpeded by all kinds of vehicles stopping.

However, large protests came from an unexpected quarter. The beach chair rental companies received considerably fewer customers because the buses were not allowed to stop at those places to drop off groups of people. Emotions ran high especially between Soi's 15 and 19 and people went to the town hall to speak to the municipal council. In order to reach a good compromise, the markings have been removed in many places.

These have been maintained at the entrances of the Soi's in order to facilitate access to the relatively narrow Soi's.

Another typical case of mopping with the tap open. A Thai is a Thai and he has his own rules and then the municipality can jump high or low, he doesn't stick to them anyway….

    Dear Lodewijk Lagemaat,

Ridiculous, not normal to do this on one of the best boulevards in Jomtien.
But! It makes it clear again that nothing is impossible in Thailand.

Friendly, yet with criticism and exuberant screams allowed again with an 'exhaust pipe'
which you are therefore not allowed to smoke on the beach “ridiculous”.

    Yours faithfully,

    Erwin
