The reports of long waiting times for an appointment with the external service provider VFS Global, which has been appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect and check Schengen visa application forms, have also reached other websites. Schengenvisum.info writes that waiting times for an appointment can be as long as 3 to 5 months. Complaints come mainly from Suriname, Thailand and Senegal (Gambia), but this may also be the case elsewhere in the world.

I would like to say something about VFS Global regarding a visa application. My sister-in-law with her 12-year-old child intends to come to the Netherlands for 1 month. We thought it would be a good idea to send her to VFS Global to help her with the requested forms. They cannot manage this on their own and need help.

Recently, the editors of Thailandblog and Rob V. have heard an increasing number of reports of visa rejections for the Netherlands. These rejections often concern relatively small or remarkable things. For example: the lack of a telephone number with a hotel booking, that a flight reservation with KLM had expired (the flight in question was even canceled by KLM without the knowledge of the applicant) and even someone who comes to the Netherlands year after year and now suddenly hears gets that the “motivation of the trip is unclear”.

I have been married to a Thai woman for 13 years, have my own home in Belgium and here in Thailand we built a house. Next year our grandchild (from my Thai wife) will be 8 years old and we would like to take her to Belgium for a month (April, warmest month in Thailand and school leave), and make it a nice holiday. Are there any special visa requirements? I myself have a retired visa.

Good news for everyone in Thailand who regularly applies for a Schengen visa. The visa application for my girlfriend for a short stay in the Netherlands has been rejected on the basis of the risk that she will not return to the Netherlands in time. The embassy assumes bad intentions as standard, I think.

My 27 year old son has a 25 year old girlfriend in Udon Thani and she has applied for a Schengen visa to come to the Netherlands for the first time in December. For family visits and to be with him during the holidays. Now the embassy has rejected the visa application because they say she can only leave for necessary travel now.
That is of course a big disappointment for them.
