Schengenvisum.info writes that waiting times for an appointment can be as long as 3 to 5 months. Complaints come mainly from Suriname, Thailand and Senegal (Gambia), but this may also be the case elsewhere in the world.
I would like to say something about VFS Global regarding a visa application. My sister-in-law with her 12-year-old child intends to come to the Netherlands for 1 month. We thought it would be a good idea to send her to VFS Global to help her with the requested forms. They cannot manage this on their own and need help.

I have been married to a Thai woman for 13 years, have my own home in Belgium and here in Thailand we built a house. Next year our grandchild (from my Thai wife) will be 8 years old and we would like to take her to Belgium for a month (April, warmest month in Thailand and school leave), and make it a nice holiday. Good news for everyone in Thailand who regularly applies for a Schengen visa. The European Commission is working on the possibility of applying for a Schengen visa online and replacing the visa sticker. This digitization should put an end to the bureaucratic and cumbersome method that is currently used.

My 27 year old son has a 25 year old girlfriend in Udon Thani and she has applied for a Schengen visa to come to the Netherlands for the first time in December. For family visits and to be with him during the holidays. Now the embassy has rejected the visa application because they say she can only leave for necessary travel now.
That is of course a big disappointment for them.
