Worth a detour: Wat Huay Monkol, 15 kilometers inland from Hua Hin. For some a place of pilgrimage, for others more like Efteling. With the largest statue in the world of the monk Luang Poh Tuad at its center.
Now visit the mangrove coastline of Bangkok/Samut prakhan
Large "nature park" with a new concrete cycle/pedestrian path (roughly estimated: approx. 8 km long, so bring a bottle of water!) to the coastline (until the sea), right through the mangrove crop and past numerous fish ponds. Really very nice and nice, and now still quiet.

Ajan Inkhong, a well-known mural painter of temples
Most temples in Thailand contain wall paintings on the interior, and in Isan also on the exterior walls, which also depict all aspects of everyday life. Here is a short description of these paintings in general and innovative work by Ajan Inkhong in particular. Ajan Inkhong, also known as Khrua In Khong, was a monk and painter in Thailand (Siam) in the 19th century.
A literary botanical experience
No, dear blog readers, I am not going to talk about some commendable plant or nature guide, but about a very special, but unfortunately completely unknown site to most Farang.
The cultural and ethnic landscape of Chanthaburi
Mention the name of Chanthaburi province and the first thing most people will think of is fruit. The province is the supplier of durian, mangosteen, rambutan and many other fruits. But Chanthaburi is more than that, this province in the southeastern part of Thailand has a rich history and an abundance of cultural diversity.
Wat Ku Phra Kona: a remarkable example of heritage care
Some time ago, when I was looking for monumental Khmer relics in the vicinity of my home in Satuek, I stumbled upon Wat Ku Phra Kona in the south of the province of Roi Et. Coincidence, because this Khmer ruin is missing from just about every self-respecting travel guide. It is, however, one of the northernmost Khmer shrines.
A black museum and a white temple
Thailand's most famous artists Thawan and Chalermchai created two tourist attractions in Chiang Rai: Ban Daam (the black house) and Wat Rong Khun (the white temple). They represent different aspects of their Buddhist faith.
Nang Pun Tho Rat, a beacon in the sea at Cha Am
It is a curious sight: 50 meters off the coast, in the sea near Cha Am, a fat, ugly and dark woman stands in the water, her arm outstretched. The statue is about eight meters high and a few figures keep her company on islands of stone in the sea.
An old Sino-Thai trade center comes to life
The history of Lhong 1919 dates back to the 19th century. It was the time when Chinese-Thai merchants built their homes on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and traded on the river from there. Lhong 1919 dates back to 1850 and was built by a Chinese nobleman named Huay Chong Lhong. He owned a number of steamboats and used Lhong 1919 as a trading center.

Reader Submission: Video of the Wat Tham Khao Tao in Hua Hin
Tham Khao Tao Temple also called Turtle Temple is located just outside Hua Hin. It is worth a visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a beautiful temple and beautiful views.

A hand kiss in Kamphaeng Phet
Frans goes in search of the rich Thai history but does not end up in the old capitals Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, but he travels to Kamphaeng Phet. This city is located about 80 kilometers southwest of Sukhothai and, according to information, has an equally rich history.
Two extremes in Chachoengsao
A Thai friend tells me that he visited a beautiful and famous temple in Chachoengsao a few days ago. He knows that I immediately say 'I want to see that too'.
Khao Chee Chan
Near Pattaya you can visit the special landmark known as Khao Chee Chan. This Buddha image carved into a rock is the largest in the world with a height of no less than 130 meters and a width of 70 meters.
One of the major tourist attractions in Bangok, The Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace will reopen to the public on November 1.
Day trip to Khon Kaen Zoo
In anticipation of the reopening of the Megabreak pool hall in Pattaya, several employees have returned to their village in Isaan. One of the ladies, whom I have known for a long time, went back to Maha Sarakham to help her parents in the small farming business. She also spends a lot of time with children from her family and from the village, who are not yet able to go to school. She regularly sends me photos and this time it was about a day trip to the zoo in Khon Kaen.
Museum of Buddhist Art in Pattaya
How wonderful it is when wealthy people realize that they can do something for the community with their money. Perhaps most famous here in Pattaya is The Sanctuary of Truth, that beautiful wooden structure in Naklua. Less well known is an archaeological museum called The Museum of Buddhist Art. Less known, but no less impressive.
Kudichin, a touch of Portugal in Bangkok
It is a typical Thai neighborhood of Bangkok, nice to stroll through narrow sois, where you can now and then taste a touch of Portugal on the outside of houses, thanks to the use of the Portuguese blue azulejos (tiles). Of course the Santa Cruz church is the center of the neighborhood. It is not the original church, which was made of wood, but newly built in 1916.
