Bingo in traffic

This morning on my way to a number of activities I saw several traffic problems within half an hour. The first, near my house, a driver had managed to drive around a piece of wall from a resort. His car had become half a piece shorter, which of course makes a difference with parking. Presumably instead of looking at the road too deep into the glass!

The Inquisitor is awakened by the bustle of honey-dear, a glance at the window lets a beginning dawn shine through the curtains. Strange because the sweet is usually already out of bed around this time. Drunk in sleep, The Inquisitor throws off the duvet and then he feels the cold. Guys, it's that time again. Another cold wave passes over Isaan, it was announced but as always it overtakes De Inquisitor.

Tonight we spent a few hours in our new home for the first time. It is true that it currently only consists of floor, roof, pillars and window frames, but more was not necessary, because we only wanted to be there to view the lunar eclipse in that beautiful dark place.

As presumed, Lung addie would join his Dutch friends, C&A, in Buriram the day after their arrival there. The day before at home, in the South, we left by car to first make a stopover in Lahan Sai to greet the family of our Mae Ban first. Also to view the works carried out in the bathroom under construction during his absence. Lung addie would therefore spend a night at the Jan Jin Resort.

A mixed color pallet of flowers in red, yellow, blue, white, ... attracts attention in all gardens. Bees and other winged insects flock to it so that it is a lively whole. It is clear that nature does not stand still here in Isaan, despite the somewhat lower temperatures.

Last year I wrote an article about Hendrik Jan de Tuinman. Many loyal readers of Thailand blog then asked me to write an article several times. Now I want to return to my attempt to create a nice border next to the swimming pool at Viewtaley 5c in Jomtien. I had no doubts about the construction. Well about the maintenance in the 6 monthly period of my absence.

On Tuesday I was unintentionally impressed by the good and fast service of the TMB Bank. In between my busy activities I would withdraw money at Lotus on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya. I always try to perform all actions very alertly, so that no problems arise. Until this time!

Already for the 8th time my Dutch friends, C&A, came to Thailand for a stay of 6 weeks. As usual, they stay for a few weeks in my neighbour's bungalow, on the beach of Pathiu, Hat Bo Mao, to relax and enjoy the delicious fish restaurants that this region has to offer.

The Inquisitor has started blogging again, today the first of a series. He writes about his fourth winter in Isaan and that is the least 'harsh' to date. The first cold snap came in mid-December. From which The Inquisitor and sweetheart largely escaped due to an almost two-week trip to Pattaya, well, Nong Preu, partying with friends and acquaintances there. It was strange that it had been rainy there for about three days, a phenomenon that hadn't happened here in the countryside for a month or two.

03:47 am. Boffffff!!! A dull thump wakes me from my sleep. What was that??? I look beside me. Usually Mieke is the one who wakes up from the slightest noise, but now she apparently didn't hear anything and is in a deep sleep. Could I have dreamed it, I wonder.

Lampang has an added attraction. A few months ago I wrote a short piece about Louis Leonowens' dilapidated house. He was the son of Anna Leonowens, the protagonist of the story “Anna and the King of Siam”. This morning we were again at Baan Louis, as the house is called here, and for a very good reason: the house has been refurbished.

Nostalgia in isaan

No, this story is not about Isaan. The Inquisitor came across some photos from his last visit to Pattaya last July. Most of them from Nongprue, just across Sukhumvit Road, east of Pattaya, his old home before moving to Isaan. That made him search for old photos and found some from a very long time ago. That makes The Inquisitor nostalgic.

Or vice versa. In both cases a feeling of despondency overwhelms me. If my internet connection via 3BB (fiber optic) in Hua Hin fails again, I call the call center. For English press 9, I am told. That's what I do and invariably get a computer lady who explains to me in her best Thai what to do. So that's not the point.

A pack of coffee, toilet paper, the right packaging of peanuts or muesli. How often does it happen that the buyer gets zero on the request. 'No have' is usually the answer from the sales staff. Sometimes while a boy or girl is standing in front of the desired product. They also know a lot.

Readers with (still) rose colored glasses are requested to skip this story. Because Thailand is becoming more and more a garbage dump. I'm not referring to the paradise villages, where all garbage still has value and the neighbors keep an eye on you.

Lizzy's school's annual show is an excellent way to see what the children are capable of. More than 400 children are talked across the stage in a few hours, welcomed by just as many parents. All this in the context of the musical Alice in Wonderland. And it certainly was a 'wonderland', not only on stage, but also with the spectators.

Recently I came across a new building on my morning bike ride. In it, a barber tries to earn his rice. This morning I took the plunge and reported for the hair growth on my chin to be cut.
