Just under two weeks and it's that time again: you 'may' file your income tax return again. You may have already received an invitation from the Tax and Customs Administration for a long time. This is usually the case if the Tax and Customs Administration thinks there is something to be gained from you. If you are entitled to a refund, in many cases, and certainly if you live abroad, you have not received such an invitation. The 'service' of the Tax and Customs Administration usually does not go that far. You will have to keep an eye on that yourself.

As previously announced, the Dutch embassy will hold consular consultation hours in Pattaya. During this consultation hour it is possible for Dutch people to apply for a passport, Dutch Identity Card (NIK) or have your life certificate signed.

Dutch nationals who live abroad and have an ABN AMRO payment account must pay a surcharge. In response to complaints from Dutch people abroad, the Disputes Committee of the Kifid complaints institute ruled this month that banks are allowed to charge extra costs for a current account of customers who live abroad ('non-resident customers').
