Nina De La Croix in Bangkok
I have always been a fan of cabaret. Of course it started with the big 3, Toon Hermans, Wim Kan and Wim Sonneveld. Later also saw performances by, among others, the Lurelei-Cabaret, Freek de Jong, Youp, Finkers and enjoyed ladies like Jasperine de Jong, Martine Bijl and Tineke Schouten on television.

Kalasin, a province in the Northeast of Thailand, is now not the most famous province. Sandwiched between 6 other provinces, it is a predominantly agricultural area with approximately 1 million inhabitants. Glutinous rice, cassava and sugar cane are the most important agricultural products and – just like the surrounding provinces – Kalasin is one of the poorest parts of Thailand.

That was a bit of a shock when I drove into Pattaya. I hadn't realized that Songkran is celebrated days later in this seaside town compared to the rest of the country. Hua Hin is the leader with only one day of water festival, but in the city where sin was invented, Thai and farang take no less than a week for it. Whether this has to do with announced police checks is not entirely clear 25% less …
