Those who want something different for their wedding can go to South Thailand. In Trang, for the 23rd time, an underwater wedding is celebrated. The beautiful Andaman Sea is the wedding venue in this case.

Since 1997, Thailand has been offering scuba diving couples from around the world the unique opportunity to get married at the bottom of the sea. This year, 20 couples are expected to get married underwater. The 23rd Trang Underwater Wedding Ceremony is scheduled for February 12-14, 2019.

The event kicks off on the morning of February 12, when all registered couples take part in a welcome ceremony at Thumrin Thana Hotel before joining a traditional Thai wedding parade with local marching bands escorting the lucky couples to Trang Clock Tower. The big day is February 13 when all couples are taken to Pak Meng Pier to be taken by boat to the Emerald Cave for the 'Underwater Wedding registration' and 'Rot Sai Sang' ritual to complete the marriage. This happens at the Emerald Cave at a depth of eight meters followed by a photo session.

In the evening there is a wedding reception at Pak Meng Beach, where the married couples receive their official marriage certificate. On February 14, the newlyweds head to Wat Khao Mai Kaeo to ring the bell for good luck and prosperity.

There is only one 'but', the marriage certificate received is only proof of participation in the Trang Underwater Wedding Celebration 2019 and is not legally binding.
