Next month, on 4 May, the Netherlands will commemorate all war victims of the Second World War from the former Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as those who subsequently fell during war and peacekeeping operations in which the Netherlands was involved.

Thailand will also be commemorated. Memorial services will be held on May 4 at the cemeteries of Don Ruk and Chungkai in Kanchanaburi. Dutch prisoners of war who died during the construction of the infamous Burma-Thailand railway are buried in these cemeteries.

Those interested are welcome to attend these commemorations on May 4 at 11.00 a.m. (Don Ruk) and 12.30:4 p.m. (Chungkai). A joint lunch will be served afterwards. A further announcement will follow about logistics planning. Those interested in Bangkok who are unable to travel to Kanchanaburi on May XNUMX but still want to pay their respects can lay flowers at the flag on the embassy grounds that day.

If you want to attend this, please register before April 29 via [email protected].
