Calendar: Thai events and holidays in October
October 5, 2018
This month there are a number of days in Thailand that you can note as an event or national day. Many government institutions (and sometimes banks) are closed during a national holiday or memorial day.
- The Vegetarian Festival takes place in Phuket from October 8-18. There are also similar festivals in Chiang Mai and Trang.
- October 13 is the death anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and also a national day of remembrance.
- It's October 23 Chulalong Korn Day (a national holiday).
Please note: the Dutch embassy in Bangkok will be closed on Monday 15 October.

October 15 is an alternative day off because October 13 (the anniversary of King Bhumibol's death) falls on a Saturday. Many institutions are closed on that day.
Since the 13th of October (Commemoration of the death of King Rama IX) falls on a Saturday, all government institutions are closed on Monday, October 15th!
The Belgian embassy will also be closed on 15 October!
