Discover the sparkling Songkran Festival in Thailand The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) invites you to participate in the festivities of the Songkran festival, the Thai New Year, in various locations across the country. This year, the agency expects an economic boost of 18 billion baht thanks to both Thai and foreign visitors participating in the celebrations.

An estimated 3,8 million domestic and 300.000 international trips will be made during the Thai New Year. The Songkran Festival, also known as it water festival, is the largest and most important celebration in Thailand, where family is central, respect is shown to elders and people visit the temples to participate in traditional ceremonies.

This year, you can look forward to the Yen Tua La Maha Songkran event and the International Amazing Splash 2023 event in Bangkok, taking place at Soi Chulalongkorn 5, at Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park, near the National Stadium, from April 13-15. The TAT is also hosting Water Festival 2023 events at various locations across the country from April 13-16.

Visitors can participate in traditional activities for it Thai New Year in various temples in Bangkok such as Wat Pho, Wat Arun and Wat Rakhang, as well as major events in Tha Maharaj, Iconsiam mall and Asiatique.

Provinces across Thailand will also host their own unique events, such as the Ancient House of Chiang Mai, Ban Chiang World Heritage Culture Square in Udon Thani, Andamanda Water Park in Phuket, and a traditional Songkran event in Samut Prakan's Phra Pradaeng district, which takes place April 21-23.

During the festival, the TAT works closely with the Tourist Police to ensure security measures and boost the confidence of both domestic and international visitors. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of Thailand's vibrant and colorful Songkran celebrations!
