Kai works in a bar in Pattaya
Like so many other young women from Thailand's poorest regions, Kai had few options in life. To support her family, she left for Pattaya at the age of 19 in hopes of earning more money, more than she could ever earn in a shop or office in her area.
Well aware of the stigma associated with working in bars, she only started doing “PR” or promotional work outside the bar on the street by displaying the drink prices. She then put on "adapted clothing" like the "Coyote" dancers wore. In the end, she was completely familiar with bar life. But even now she refuses to talk about what she does, prostitution.
“I thought I could just work to make a certain amount of money for a certain period of time and then do something else,” she confessed.
She is now nine years later and that new career has not materialized. She admits that her lifestyle is unhealthy, especially the actual requirement of drinking lady drinks and having to work late every night. “But, she says, it has not enriched my life. I have never felt comfortable with this job, regardless of what many people think”.
Some people look down on her, but note that some of those same people also work in bars for supplemental income.
The financial benefits of her work are undeniable. She has been able to buy a house, a car and other things. The plan remains the same. Still working for some time to save enough money to start something else.
However, she still hopes to find a good man who will support her and perhaps marry her.

Met one like that in Phuket…she also thought she had met the farang of her life…needed the work to support her mother and child…I always told her “I am a good farang but a farang with no deep pockets” but still, I feel very sorry for her.
Actually very sad that situation in which some beautiful people have to move, empathize. It is indeed prostitution no matter how you look at it…it is sad to see how they keep giving their bodies in the hope of encountering “the one and only carrying farang”.
Greetings,
K
PS : Read this blog since I have been in Thailand for 2020 days at the beginning of January 12…Wherever I have been and however short I was there…it was something…Fantastic impression…Will definitely come back…
I was also able to meet various people in the Netherlands and through my wife I was later told that they also came from the world of prostitution, but that I was not allowed to talk to anyone about it, because it had to remain a secret from their outside world. Life is not pleasant for everyone, but I understand the ex-prostitutes and their secrecy and I have always respected that.
