On Sunday, July 19, the “Kings Cup Marathon” will start again in Pattaya. Preparations for this grand event started on June 10th. The various stakeholders came together to discuss the route, which streets will be closed and how traffic should be managed.

The marathon starts from the Beachroad and goes to Sukhumvit road towards Ambassador Hotel in Na Jomtien. From there back and via the Thrappaya road to the finish on the Beach Road. The total distance is 42,195 km and it will start at 4.20 am.

The participants are divided into five categories. People in wheelchairs are allowed to start first, followed a little later by the marathon runners. The other three parts consist of shorter parts, such as the half marathon, the quarter marathon and the student marathon of 3,5 km.

Although it is primarily about sporting fun, there is also a serious side to it as many international participants will be present for both the title and the prize money associated with it.

After 11.00:XNUMX in the morning, it is hoped that the city will be accessible to everyone again.

In Thailand, running competitions are always run on Sundays. Few bloggers will probably ever see a contest. This is due to the early start times. Marathon always at 4.00:5.00 am, half marathon starts at 6.00:XNUMX am, mini marathon at XNUMX:XNUMX am.

There are tons of competitions every week. If you are interested, take a look at the sites on the internet. All sites have a Thai and English version. In addition to the biggest events, you can also register the day before the competition in addition to the site. I think the biggest running event in Thailand is the KhonKean marathon in January. Divided over the various parts, around 45.000 people walk here.
Quite a lot when you consider that everyone also gets free food afterwards. There is always free food on Saturday with registration around 17.00 pm and after the games on Sunday.

If you want to take part, check out the sites and sign up. Price from 100 bath to 900 bath approximately.
Pattaya may be too early, but the following week, July 26, you can also run a marathon and shorter distances in Sattahip, for example. Personally, I think the ChiangMai marathon, (December) is the most beautiful marathon and nice and cool weather around 16-18 degrees.
