Windows 10, the new trend?

The new Windows 29 system was introduced on July 10. Windows 10 will first be used for computers and tablets, later for phones and games. This version will be offered as a free update.

The new computers are already equipped with it. A new strategy was deliberately chosen to market Windows 10 and not Windows 9, because it might be seen as an improved version of Windows 8. This system was not up to the mark and gave rise to many complaints, in contrast to Windows 7, which user-friendly and stable.

That is why Microsoft offers Windows 10 to be downloaded free of charge as a replacement for the Windows 7 version. Customers then do not have to immediately buy a new computer to be up to date again. Microsoft will also offer the programs to Windows customers in a clear and dosed manner. They also indicate how to "upgrade".

In this way, Microsoft tries to create customer loyalty, so that potential customers do not buy a new computer until they really need it. With the new Windows 10 and the right hardware, it will be possible to start the computer by an iris scan or fingerprint and no longer have to enter passwords.

Another reassuring note for Windows 7 users that it will remain supported by Microsoft for at least another five years, but with the option to upgrade to Windows 10, which is said to be the new standard over a long period of time.

CEO Satya Nadella has a target of 1 trillion users in mind over a three-year period. Several computers with Windows 10 can already be admired at Wattana in the Pattaya Klang and at Tuc Com in the Pattaya Thai.

Dear Windows users, I have only one piece of advice for you. Switch to Apple. I've had several Windows PCs for years with all the problems that entails: slow startup, crashes, peripherals that don't work, security holes, etc. At one point, on the advice of an expert, I switched to Apple. A new world opened up for me. Now never want anything else. Well. Apple is expensive, but so is a Mercedes.

I don't like your advice "Switch to Apple". Professionally, I work with computers and programs on a daily basis. The Safari browser is the biggest misery there is. As long as someone uses their computer for simple things like skyping or going to a forum or regular website etc… there is no problem. But if the website is a bit more demanding, the Safari problems will come. Just type in google 'Safari problems'.

I don't want to tar everyone with the same brush, but there are quite a few PC users, with windows, who never do anything with an anti-virus scanner, clean up old files, don't even know how to install software.
Most crashes or slow startup of a PC are caused by ignorance and human ignorance. A PC course is actually a must, even if you want to work with office.
I agree with Peter that an Apple is better. Actually, it is comparing apples with oranges.

      • Khan Peter says up

Beats. Actually my advice was wrong. If you occasionally do something on your PC and only visit a few websites and do a little e-mail, then you shouldn't buy an expensive Apple. However, if you depend on a well-functioning PC, like I do, Apple is a blessing. I do agree with many that Apple does not allow freedom and is often too expensive.

        • Peter@ says up

I agree with the last sentence, for example, do not allow you to use other brands of cables, etc., because you are bound by their too expensive Apple brand, something for which they may still be fined, because that is not allowed, was recently in Kassa or Radar.

I think this is purely a personal opinion Peter. I now have Windows 10 running on three computers, a phone and a tablet and I would recommend everyone DO IT!!! Takes some getting used to, but then you don't want anything else (that last one is a joke)
I am very satisfied with it and no problems. Windows 10 solves many problems itself.

Totally agree. Everything I do with a computer can be done with Ubuntu.

But nowadays game enthusiasts can also use Steam on Ubuntu. See http://store.steampowered.com/about/

I wonder if you will come back here in a year when it turns out that we don't have to rent Windows until our death and free upgrade to Windows 10 is still free.

Furthermore, everyone should use what he or she likes best, but Linux is by no means suitable for everyone. In addition, the number of users, despite all the fans, remains minimal. Then you also have all the different distributions, which does not make it any easier.

Most of the privacy-violating options are easy to turn off in Windows 10, and Google and Apple do exactly the same. In terms of privacy, you are probably indeed best off with Linux. But I have to laugh at such a comment from theoS that he first looks up every update in Google, the company that invented data collection and on which the entire business model is based.

By the way, I use MS software and services and Google software and services together and sometimes also Linux (Mint).

I remember a funny joke about that Mercedes of yours.

Taxi drivers in Germany have been complaining about malfunctions in their Mercedes for a long time. With a large group of drivers, each in their own car, on their way to the factory.

An acquaintance of mine asked: "and, did they make it?".

Apple is not better than Windows at all. Much more expensive. This is especially useful if you need help. You are totally dependent on the supplier who can charge you almost anything he likes.

An Apple computer is a disaster box. Never again!

    • Khan Peter says up

Fine, yes. You should do what you think is right. It says enough that you need help with an Apple. In my opinion unthinkable, because it is super user-friendly and always works.
Don't forget to install a virus scanner on your Windows computer. About 99% of all viruses and malware in circulation are written for Windows. OS X, Apple's operating system, is so well put together that you can safely work with your Apple without a virus scanner. That says enough, I think.

Actually old news. This article should have been posted in June. Windows 10 is already fully operational worldwide. W10 is also not the new trend with a question mark. W10 is the trend. That someone chooses Apple with iOS, fine. Above all, do what you think is right. But Apple is more expensive and therefore not better. I already installed W10 on my PC and tablet at the beginning of August, and it certainly works well. I left Edge alone. I had excellent experiences with Chrome. Chrome is a great browser because of all the apps and extensions. With the extension “Bing2Google” you can even google and work via Edge in a Chrome-like manner. Free from interference and virus/malware. (BM)W10 runs like a charm!

    An iris scan or fingerprint.
Big Brother Microsoft is watching you.
Soon you will probably also be able to log in with your DNA.

Windows 8 is indeed a disaster.
Every time I want to scroll down with my mouse on the right side, that annoying black function bar appears.
Moreover, explorer does not work properly, because recently created or deleted folders are often or not yet visible, or not yet removed from the screen.

  6. folkert says up

Windows 10 gives less freedom than Windows 7, for example, playing Skype and games without an account, now a microsoft account must first be created for this. Windows 10 is becoming more of a revenue model just like Apple.

Comparing Windows to Apple is like comparing pears to apples. You can eat both, but have a different taste and shape.
That doesn't mean one is better or worse than the other. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages.
Mainly speaking for Windows is the wide variety of hardware that interacts with this system. With Apple's OS, you are tied to one manufacturer, as with the iPhone and iPad, with the result that it can charge almost any price it wants.
The disadvantage is that with Windows as well as Android, very cheap hardware also works well or poorly with these systems. Then you will inevitably run into problems if you expect a 100 Euro device to work just as well as a 1000 Euro device.
A Windows 10 laptop (take Microsoft's Surface for example. A top machine, which is also in the same price range as a Mac with the same specifications….
I was a tester of Windows 10 last year and was able to follow the development. Now that I have Windows 10 on my tablet as well as on my PC, I must say that I am extremely satisfied with the system.
For me, this is the best OS from Microsoft. It unites the surface of Windows 7 and Windows 8 and has numerous improvements.
Most of it is not visible. That is almost the engine of the system. It runs stable and smooth… going back to Windows 7 would be a step backwards for me.
It's not perfect. You can improve it. For example, I stole the bar from the apple world in the form of Rocketdock (already a few years old and never found an update) and since Windows 10 I also use Objectdock 2… similar to Apple. This keeps your desktop clean of junk and you can link frequently used programs and folders to it, so you don't have to go to the tiled area of Windows. I like that one (especially on my tablet), but not that practical.
I upgraded my PC, but I would always recommend a clean install. Windows 10 is able to find almost all necessary drivers for the most diverse hardware, but Windows 7 drivers also still work under Windows 10.
An upgrade has the disadvantage that Windows 10 also includes the errors you had in your old system.
For example, I recently helped someone remove his old iTunes software, because he could not remove it himself. This was due to the fact that he used a laptop, which used to be connected to his work via a server. There were references on the PC to that Server, but he could no longer contact it. Due to the complexity of the newer systems (they are user-friendly, but therefore more complicated) you can hardly remove those things or by "hand" .... then you need special programs again.
Anyway, this has nothing to do with Windows 10.
It works well. I also installed it on a computer that previously ran Windows XP. It's fine! And the owner of that computer has no idea about computers. Windows 8 was too complicated, but he got by with 10.
I also use Edge occasionally, but I'm also a Chrome enthusiast. This is much better integrated into the Android systems and you can synchronize your data and bookmarks much better…

    • Joop says up

      Dear Jack,
Indeed a tight plan, a clean installation. Just ask me how to achieve this if you don't have the full software W10 yourself. Do have the W7 CD with original license. Also against upgrading. Clean install is better.

      • Jack S says up

Yes, yes, I know, I'm not allowed to chat, but I'll write an answer anyway: you can also download so-called cracked versions of Windows 10. Of course it hasn't really been cracked, because Windows 10 is free, isn't it?
I have the 32 and the 64 bit Version, both of which you can install without having previously had Windows 8 or 7 on your PC (so as I wrote, my acquaintance had Windows XP).
There is a “paid” version for these people, but in the end it is rubbish. Because if, like me, you had a cracked version of Windows 8.1 on your PC, you could still use the official version of Windows 10 for an upgrade. So I think you won't have a problem with these versions.
You can download Windows 10 from torrent sites. It really works. And you can just make all updates. In the Netherlands it may not be allowed, but here in Thailand someone will ask about it.

      • Jörg says up

You can download this software for free (http://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/software-download/windows10). The only thing is that you first have to do an update, which will give you a license for Windows 10, then you can perform a clean installation. Or you wait a little longer, in the beta test it is already possible to activate Windows 10 with the license code of Windows 8 (.1) or 7.
You can also choose system restore from an installed Windows 10 version, which I think is almost the same as a clean installation.

      • martin says up

        Dear Joe

Windows 7 can be upgraded for free. Then you start the Windows 10 CD and choose "clean" install. It is a bit more cumbersome (upgrade takes 30 minutes and new installation another 30 minutes) but it is possible. The message below is from the Microsoft website.

If you upgraded this PC to Windows 10 under the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 in the past, you do not need a Windows 10 product key and can skip the product key page by selecting the Skip button . Your PC will be automatically activated online, provided the same edition of Windows 10 was previously successfully activated on this PC as part of the Windows 10 Upgrade Offer.

      • martin says up

Forget to mention that you can download the installation CD (or on USB) for free from the microsoft website. Look at media creation tool.

  8. Japio says up

For the free update you must of course have a legal Windows 7 or 8 version on your computer!!

Whether Apple is better than Windows, I will leave in the middle. Problems on a computer usually arise due to ignorance of the user. Many people just click and do not actually know what is happening under the "hood". Then it doesn't matter whether you drive an "Opel" or a "Mercedes".

  9. YUUNDAI says up

I own such a "Mercedes", only 5 years young, the version with maximum capacity and more bells and whistles, Apple 2.
Always upgraded, even yesterday. But how slow he is. Been to several stores, well buy a new one, they are a lot faster. Oh yes can I trade it in, yes certainly I will give 4000 Bath for it was the answer. According to the data, just used half the capacity of the 64 GB.
Consider purchasing something else, but …………

Funny that you always see the same discussion between apple and windows users. Neither of them ever has new arguments.
You can both drive to Amsterdam with a Volkswagen and a Mercedes. In one "perhaps" with more comfort and certainly at a higher cost than the other. I say "probably" because most people use the device for email and the Internet, so Apple's added convenience is relative. The Apple is certainly better for graphic work, but that goes further than editing a holiday movie.
In short, do what you like and don't tire others with false arguments.

  11. martin says up

Windows 10 doesn't look like it.
Microsoft does not listen to the users because they are working on a revenue model.
You can't turn off updates, so as soon as you have a wrong update you can't start again.
I also have windows 8.1. installed with clissic menu and now works just like windows 7.
Windows 10 sends everything to mirosoft even if you turn on privacy.
Just take the trouble to search on ytube for windows 10.

  12. Lead says up

Due to the limited freedom, the choice for Apple is sometimes the right one. My elderly father had better have as few choices as possible. He thought that he had to click on anything and everything. The Apple may cost more, but it can save a lot of time for those called upon to help straighten things out.

  13. Roel says up

Windows 10, I've been using it recently, bought a small notebook. I also have the familiar W7.

W10 does not protect the user, Windows already suggests for those people who want to go back to W7 because W10 forwards everything to Microsoft. They just want to know everything about the user and put their ads on that later. So I will continue to use Windows 7 as long as possible, especially not to give any data to Microsoft.

Apple has been working like this for years, nothing is safe in Apple PC, even software that does not come from the store is removed with an update or modified in such a way that it can no longer be used.

Chrome is a very good browser, better than safari, which you can also use on windows. Opera is also a good browser, sometimes very fast. I use multiple browsers side by side, I like speed and especially Thailand doesn't cooperate very hard.

The advantage of windows is that there is much more free software to download than for apple, you do not have to purchase Office package for windows, try openoffice, same but free and developed by students from the Netherlands. An additional advantage is that you can transfer documents to Adobe format.

  14. Jack S says up

If you don't trust Windows or Apple, only surf the internet, don't play big games, have an older computer and a small budget: install one of the many Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Mint etc. Free and with a lot of software. Open office is standard here. And you are even less bothered by viruses….

    • Khan Peter says up

Good advice. Before I bought my first Apple (I had to save some money) I threw windows off and started running Ubuntu. Highly recommended for anyone who is tired of Windows and does not want to buy Apple.

    • Edwin says up

I really like Ubuntu for 6 years now. No more Windows for me. You can do much more than “just surf the internet”. Do not play any games yourself, but the large games are also no problem with the arrival of Steam. A small budget is not necessary because it is free and nowadays most new hardware is recognized without problems.

  15. Jörg says up

MS is going to take a different course, actually a bit the same course as Apple with the difference that other hardware manufacturers still develop and sell hardware that runs Windows. The "revolution" is yet to come, at least according to MS, with the arrival of Windows 10 for mobile phones. With a new Windows 10 phone you will soon have a more or less complete computer with you, via a dock you can connect it to the monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a Windows 10 laptop/PC via Continuum.
By the way, it's a pity that the first reaction to this topic is to switch to Apple.

  16. Jan says up

There's nothing wrong with a Windows computer, especially if it has modern hardware and runs Windows 7 or 10. I'm glad to be rid of Windows 8(.1).

Apple was once a favorite in the graphics business (as far as I understand) but nowadays the two systems are no longer different. It's just different from each other.
I think it's mainly about the applications you want to run on it.

Linux also has a lot of choice of operating systems but I have to limit myself (so don't use it) but it has the advantage of being free (depending on the version).

Windows 10 and also Windows 7 are very stable. A relief. Recommended too.

To know what Windows 10 does, it is good to read the article of the consumer association.

    http://www.consumentenbond.nl/laptop/extra/windows-10-privacy/

and on https://www.security.nl/ is good info about what Windows 10 does.

NO (Big Brother) Windows 10 for me.

    Consumers Association writes:

Things that are 'on' by default in Windows 10:

Windows 10 will send all typed and spoken text to Microsoft, so that the personal assistant Microsoft Cortana in Windows 10 "gets to know you better".
The contents of your address book are also uploaded to this internet service without your friends in your address book being asked anything.
    Cortana is currently not yet in the Dutch edition, but is expected to be added later;
    Windows 10 will forward every visited web page to Microsoft for security analysis using SmartScreen technology (already present in earlier versions of Internet Explorer);
    Windows 10 allows easy sharing of entered WiFi passwords with 'friends' on social networks;
    Any program (app) on your PC or tablet may read your unique advertising ID;
    The new Edge browser wants to show you personalized ads;
    The PC will continuously save your location and share the location history with all programs (apps) on the PC that request it;
The programs (apps) you install immediately see who you are (name, photo).

  18. theos says up

@Peter, you just beat me to it, totally correct. I also don't like Windows 10 because of that privacy breach. I use Win.7 and Google every update before I install it, no auto updates for me. Microsoft stubbornly tries to promote this spyware system via auto updates to Win,10, by means of nagscreens. Have already put a whole row of updates on "hide". Big Brother ain't watching me!

  19. self says up

In Windows 10, all objections to the lack of privacy can simply be eliminated. Via Settings-Privacy you can, for example, stop the passing of data, etc. How does stopping work? See: http://www.pcmweb.nl/nieuws/de-belangrijkste-privacy-instellingen-windows-10.html
