It is the condition in March 2021.

It would be interesting to see such an overview of the Dutch 🙂
Kees, Dutch people are not registered anywhere. You can voluntarily register at the Dutch embassy, but only as a Dutch citizen.
Whether you come from North or South Holland is not taken into account.
Belgians who require administrative (consular) assistance are obliged to register with the Belgian embassy, see
https://thailand.diplomatie.belgium.be/nl/consulaire-diensten/inschrijving
The Netherlands does not have this obligation, but you can register at the Dutch embassy. The registration is without obligation and the data will only be used in case of calamities, see
https://www.thailandblog.nl/expats-en-pensionado/registratie-nederlandse-ambassade-bangkok
An overview of the Dutch, as has now been made for the Belgians, is therefore not possible.
It is a coincidence that all registered Belgians live in the major tourist cities.
I already know a few here in the area (Isaan) and will ask them if they are registered with the embassy and if not, why not.
Seems to me the embassy is getting off with a quickie.
and if you add up the numbers you barely get to half the rest lives so …….
Maybe you should read the text again.
If you can't figure it out, I'll give the solution tomorrow.
Belgians are not obliged to register with an embassy.
And you can only register if you have been deregistered in Belgium.
You can inform your embassy that you have arrived in Thailand, without registering. Can be useful in emergencies or disasters.
For the "almost real" numbers you have to double the number. The embassy(s) also know the "real" numbers because they are informed by immigration how many Belgians/Dutch/countrymen have entered and/or left the country. (Of course, always an exception to the rule if someone leaves or arrives in the country without passing through immigration)
If you add up the numbers of the major cities, you end up with 1 Belgians. Take 700% living in the main cities and 60% spread across the country.
What is important about those numbers is that they show how many people living in Thailand “can” use the services of an embassy.
In a period of cost savings everywhere, it is often more understandable that embassies want to phase out certain services.
It is no longer necessary to register in case of emergencies or disasters.
You can now do this via Travelersonline
https://travellersonline.diplomatie.be/?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
By that I mean registering yourself personally at the relevant embassy itself for the time that you stay in that country.
Registering via the link is sufficient.
The Belgian embassy has announced on Facebook that only the numbers of the four major cities can be seen on those graphics. Of course there are also Belgians living outside those areas in Thailand
And now I'm actually curious how many Dutch people live in Thailand, registered or not?
Would anyone know?
I wonder how many are staying here illegally and are therefore not known anywhere. I think more than we would suspect.
Who knows, our embassy looked up those numbers to have our vaccines come over here 🙂
You can always ask all illegal immigrants to report so that they can be counted…..
AOW beneficiaries as of March 2021:
Thailand 1672
Indonesia 1430
Other 3090 (Treaty countries outside Europe)
Other 2411 (Non-Treaty countries outside Europe)
At the end of 2016, the Dutch embassy in Bangkok announced in this blog that an estimated 20 to 25 thousand Dutch citizens are staying in Thailand for a long time. That would then have to be the expats (seconded), the emigrants/longstayers and their Dutch partners and children.
Questions have already been asked about these figures in this blog, if I remember correctly by Ger Khorat. Tooske reports today that the figures from the Belgian embassy may only show half, so you would be talking about 7.300 Belgians; in that light, 20 to 25 thousand NLers is very high.
The number of state pensioners seems low to me, but in Ron's contribution, these are only those who have reported Thailand as their country of residence.
I think that 20 to 25 thousand Dutch people is highly exaggerated and was, I think, mainly intended to get more money from The Hague…
There are also Dutch people who work here. And there is a group that lives here for a maximum of 180 days a year. And the digital nomads.
What is the importance of knowing exactly how many Belgians or Dutch people live in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia .. and where exactly? Soon another debate about their address .. man, man, man ...
I would rather see the figures of the number of Belgians and Dutch people who would like to go on holiday to Thailand as soon as possible and based on this what relaxation the Thai government is taking or wishes to take to welcome these and their baths with open arms.
Must everything that appears be important?
Sometimes it's just fun to know.
But actually it makes little difference, whether it is important or not, for some the nagging valve opens anyway. Same with any item.
Great response Ronnie!
Philippe, I don't quite understand your frustration. It's nice to see numbers like that. No one forces us to discuss it.
If I don't like a certain topic, I don't like it. I am therefore not going to bother posting criticism on the blog. If you want to see other figures you are always free to start a new topic about it. Our moderators are very open to starting new topics.
Have a nice day.
