Ornamental fences in Thailand (2)

It is interesting to see while driving around which beautiful entrance gates to the houses have been designed. There is no arguing about tastes, but it is interesting to enjoy the differences.

Many entrance gates are two-part and it must give a rich feeling to be able to drive to the house in between. Sometimes even electrically opened remotely.

The blue fence has continued the same motifs to the rest of the fence. It is worth taking a closer look at the different motifs. These are two drinking birds from a water basin. With some imagination one could imagine a water tap at the back, as can be found in some halls near toilets. The colors have been chosen with care. Cobalt blue with gold colored motifs, it almost indicates something royal.

The last fence shows in a beautiful decoration of the fence what that person has covered in his life. In this case we clearly see an anchor depicted at the top left, but on top of that anchor a headgear that important people wore. The fencing refers to seafaring, namely to Admiral Chumpon. It was one of the first to play an important role in the development of the Thai navy and is located on the most famous viewpoint of Pattaya, the Pattaya Hill on Phratamnak Road. The Admiral Chumpon Statue is open to visitors daily. The pedestal on which the statue stands also functions as a shrine. Admiral Chumpon was only 43 years old. He established the naval port in Sattahip and founded the Royal Thai Navan Academy.

In this way, many ornamental fences can display something about the residents or activities to which they were associated.

    Dear Louis,

Have always looked with admiration at the fences and garden deposits in Thailand, they also make very beautiful gates from onix.
I have never seen them in the Netherlands, years ago I toyed with the idea of importing them to the Netherlands / Europe.
Only such gates in miniature are sometimes encountered in Hungary.
Always stop to admire the craftsmanship.

    Regards, leon.

    Dear Lodewijk Lagemaat,

Nice piece. I am also sometimes amazed at how people in Thailand deal with metal.
Fortunately, in our village there is also a 'shop' that can make almost anything you want.
This of course also includes these fences that are very beautifully put together, let alone,
    be finished.

Now that we are (again) working on our wall behind the house that has been knocked down by the pressure of the water
has fallen (our house is on a hill) it would be a nice idea to have the upper part
to finish with this kind of beautiful shapes of steel.

    Yours faithfully,

    Erwin
