A curious celebration with very different forms of expression will be displayed in Bangkok on Sunday to honor the Thai king.

The Nation reports the following: The soldiers, armor, tanks and other vehicles will travel with the Army's Thongchai Chalermpol (the flag of the army) from the Royal Guards 2nd Infantry Division base in Prachin Buri to the capital to participate in a ceremony , which will take place next Sunday in honor of the King's birthday.

On the other hand, the public is invited by the government as follows:

“The government invites Thai nationals to pray for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the occasion of His Majesty's 67th birthday on Sunday, July 28. The government will organize a mass prayer at the Royal Square in front of the Dusit Palace, Bangkok, to mark the birthday of His Majesty the King.”

The religious ceremony will be presided over by His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, who will be accompanied by 191 Buddhist monks.

On this special occasion, His Majesty the King has directed the relevant agencies to distribute books of Buddhist prayers entitled “Thamma Rachini” and “Phra Suntareewanee” to all participants. The prayers reveal that praying on a regular basis will lead to wisdom.

At the time of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, I do not remember such "celebrations".
