The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has issued a special 245-page brochure commemorating the 60th anniversary this year. It is free to view and download. It offers a fascinating look at the history of Thai tourism and the TAT since 1960.

The first part, with the theme of “60 Years of Pride – The Journey of Thailand's Sustainable Tourism” features a number of historical images from the TAT offices, Thailand and Bangkok in the 1960s. The highlight is a photo collage of King's visit Bhumibhol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) to the TAT offices.

The bilingual Thai-English edition (PDF) also pays tribute to the former governors of the TAT and provides insight into the many marketing campaigns; such as Visit Thailand Year, Amazing Thailand, Thailand: Happiness on Earth, Thailand Grand Invitation, Unseen Thailand, and Open to the New Shades. Furthermore, an overview of the awards that deTAT has won over the years.

The second part “TAT the Journey” (in Thai only) provides a more detailed look at TAT policy and planning perspectives, including statistical data, crisis management, research projects and responses to global tourism changes.

The third part, “Open to Panoramic Thailand” is full of spectacular images of Thailand, from forests and farms to temples, beaches and urban areas.

“60 Years of Pride – The Journey of Thailand's Sustainable Tourism”, can be viewed and downloaded for free as a PDF at: amazingthailandebook.com/issue/241
