Today is Makha Bucha day in Thailand, this day falls on the third full moon period. This is an important holiday for Theravada Buddhists.

After 9 months, Buddha was visited spontaneously without mutual agreement by 1250 monks to jointly experience a first sermon by Buddha.

For many Thai people, this has become a Buddhist holiday. The temples are festively decorated. People go there with their families. At the temple, a burning candle, three incense sticks and garlands of flowers are then walked around the temple three times.

One can also attend a ceremony and in this way the Buddhist way of life is experienced and commemorated. It was not until 1850 that this Makha Bucha day was declared an official holiday. It is very impressive to take part in such a ceremony.

For example, what do tourists notice about it? At the temples (Wats) it will be much busier than usual. And in some restaurants no alcohol will be served. Many entertainment venues will also be closed. Most banks and government agency are also closed.
