I was at Khon Kaen Immigration yesterday (April 9, 2019) for my 90 day report. The 90-day notification went smoothly. Because there is some ambiguity about the rules to be applied by KhonKaen Immigration, the following.

I hate mosquitoes. That's because I always get punctured and also get huge itchy bumps. Of course I rub myself with Deet, but that doesn't always help and I refuse to walk with long pants in that heat. What made me wonder when are there the most mosquitoes in Thailand? Now it is the dry period so I assume that there are fewer mosquitoes than, for example, after the rainy season, is that correct?

I heard a year ago that when you enter Thailand through the airport, immigration sometimes asks if you can show 20.000 baht in cash. Is this still happening? I myself have a Non-Immigrant B (Business Visa). Is this also asked of people with a Non-B visa? I find it really such a strange arrangement, who takes 20.000 baht cash in his wallet?

We are two backpackers from the Netherlands and we arrive in Bangkok tomorrow. We have a hostel near Khao San Road. We would like to experience the water party. Now we heard that it is not possible there this year because everything is neatly made for the coronation. Is that right? We would regret that very much. And where should we be then? Somewhere where many young people come?

Today, young tourists, many of whom are families, fill the new shopping malls and restaurants along Beach Road or Second Road. The sidewalk along the beach is wider, full of new trees and surprisingly pleasant to walk on. The beach at Beachroad has become a real beach again. Most tourists now come from Asia, the Middle East and Russia. Families with children are everywhere.

Tourists sometimes ask what is the best time to travel to Thailand? Usually the question then refers to the weather. There is currently no level to be measured. This month of April is normally the driest and hottest month of the year. Lately, however, we have been dealing with heavy tropical rain showers in Pattaya. Sometimes even very local.

Friday 5-4 I put on my naughty shoes and made an attempt to obtain my visa extension at the immigration service in Nakhon Phanom. I am 67 years old and married to my Thai beauty and have been living in Nakhon Phanom for over 10 years. I am legally married, but for convenience always ask for a non-immigrant visa extension based on retirement, so the expensive option but less fuss. It has always been quite smooth and fast in recent years.

I love watermelon and often get them from the market. My Thai girlfriend says that they are injected with a chemical substance and that is why they are so beautiful red inside. That stuff is said to be carcinogenic. Is this a monkey sandwich or not? Does anyone know more about it? I do notice that the watermelon on the market are deep red, but they taste great.
